Anyone use whiskey stones?

Picked some up for my dad. Anyone ever use them? pros/cons?

Have not... but they seem like a cool idea. CJ at Calandro's hooked me up with some a while back, but they still sit in the freezer instead of my drinks. Oops!

The only problem I could see is that some whiskeys actually open up more when the ice in them melts. So with whiskey stones you might have to add water to your whiskey if it is too hot (too high proof).

You put them in the freezer to add to whiskey when drinking on the rocks. Replaces ice so the whiskey doesn't get watered down from melting.

They were in Woot a couple of weeks ago. Got a couple of sets but have not put them to use...

I saw some at Sur La Table yesterday and picked them up for my dad. I had seen them before just never used them.

If you want it cool just keep your glass in the freezer beforehand.
