It's a great tool, especially on busy nights. I generally use it as a hedge to find the best place. I lock up one spot then see what opens up. Also, I believe most restaurants keep a few tables off of Open Table so it is often worth calling or just showing up.

All the time. Love it. You can see available tables easily and you accrue points.

I saw this, what do the points lead to? I've never bothered looking into them.

Aren't you expecting a baby soon?

I see cooking in your future.

I think 1000 is $10 gift card and then it goes up from there. 1000 is hard to gain if you don't use it often since the norm is 100 points per used reservation but if you eat out often or go to a place that's having "bonus points" that night, it helps.

For example, on valentines day, little village was 1000 points if you booked a reservation and completed it. That's $10 gift card from one reservation.

I've got the open table app (free). If you know you're going to eat at a certain restaurant, you might as well use this service since you'll eventually get a gift certificate. Heck, I've even made a reservation over my app en route to the restaurant.

Open Table is just starting to catch on in Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Nawlins has 167 venues featured, Baton Rouge 23 and Lafayette 6. Tsunami in Laffy now gets you 1,000 points per reservation, which is halfway to a $20 certificate btw.

Yeah, I found OpenTable by accident a few years ago. At the time, there was only like 6 restaurants in BR on it. And I was not of the age to be eating at most of them regularly (hell, I'm still not ) so I didn't use it much.. but Tsunami has always been on there, so I used it anytime I went. The reservations I make on OpenTable aren't always needed (weeknights), but if you're getting points for it and it guarantees a table, why not?

I used OpenTable for NYE last minute in New Orleans this past year. Type in a time and it shows all restaurants with reservations within 2 hours before and after the time. I was able to look at all with available tables and pick the best out of the list.

I did the same for Valentine's Day. I was traveling, so it was a good tool to find out what was actually available.

Yeah, but you have to eat at Little Village to get it.

Yeah, I noticed that both of their locations offer 1000 pts. Desperation perhaps?

I've said many times here.. I don't mind LV because I only order the $14 Italian dishes that come with a salad. I think they have one of the best red sauces around, and $14 for an entree and salad is a great deal.

I was warned about the expensive specials and other entrees, so I don't look at the place as that type of place.

So two visits costs you $28 (before tax/tip) and you get a $20 certificate (1000ptsX2=$20)? That's a sweet deal!

Same here. And I've landed reservations on occasion when friends that called couldn't get in.
