i've had some great elote at the local taquerias here and aside from buying mexican mayonnaise, what ideas do you have that will help me make some killer corn?

I had my box smoker going the other day. I soaked the whole corn for an hour, pulled down the husks and removed the silk. I put on a latex glove, scooped up some ghee and slathered it on the cob (O-T visuals), then sprinkled with Tony's. The silkless husks were then pulled back up back into place and tied with butcher's string and smoked with applewood for just under 2 hours. Some of the best corn I've ever had.

This is the one I use, from Serious Eats. Just wish that crumbly mexican cheese wasnt $8 per bag.
