Just got one for the hell of it and would appreciate any tips on what works and what doesn't.

I've only ever smoked Turkey's on it and it's great at that (I've had other things off one). It keep the bird super moist with the smoke flavor. Best of all on Christmas and Thanksgiving when you have a bunch of shite going on, it only takes about 2 hours to smoke a bird. I feel like for pork and beef smoking, you get a better product the old fashion, low/slow technique.
Tips: There website cook times are pretty accurate. However, those cook times are for fall apart cooked done (Ribs will literally fall of the rack you hang them on sometimes). If your like me and likes a slight tug on ribs, then you need to compensate for that. That's why I like the low and slow for pork and beef. You have much more control that way. At the end of the day, I do not own one (My FIL does) and it's a novelty item to me. For it's price though I may end up getting one just to smoke turkeys on for the holidays.
Oh, it uses a shite ton of charcoal.

Grabbed mine at a silent auction for $75. Not much in the mood for turkey, but will definitely cook one for the holidays. Thinking ribs or a butt this weekend.

Got one Monday for my birthday, cooked a chicken and some ribs in it Tuesday. Very moist and tender. Only thing is it does not leave a crust like barbquing them.

I had one for years and gave it to my grandpa who still uses it regularly.

I enjoy mine. I've done ribs, brisket, pork butt, chicken. It works well, but follow the instructions of the timer to the minute on "hard to smoke" meats like ribs. It takes a LOT of charcoal to get it hot enough for the end of cooking on pork butts (taking it up to 180-190 to gelatin-ize the fats). I always have to add charcoal.
Also, as with almost any other smoker, windy/cold conditions affect it.
