No, a really good prime ribs slow roasted and still rare to med rare with horse radish is awesome. Do one around 15lds at Christmass every year.

I did take a prime rib and cut into thick rib eys and grilled them and they were awesome. Had the prime rib tase in a rib eye steak.

I don't understand how it's overrated

It's basically a whole damn ribeye steak cooked to medium rare with a perfect crust on the outside.

If you want more crust obviously a ribeye cut into a steak and seared will be better. If you prefer more medium rare meat and a little sear, then the prime rib is the perfect way to enjoy it.

I suppose y'all will say that chateu briand is over rated but you love filet mignon or a good porterhouse.

So we've elected some clueless wine spitting yat as decider of what is and what's not antiquated? And he's deemed the fricking BEEF RIBEYE antiquated? This country is going to shite faster than I thought...

People have been eating cow meat for a really long time. It's just a useless comment.

IIRC the only thing that was critiziced about his gumbo was the color of the roux because he could have darkened it up a little bit.

I thought it was evident the discussion was about the presentation always associated with prime rib. Not rib meat in general. Sorry your old arse is offended by another voicing a dissenting opinion.

Probably not at the pic, but that's exactly what the Wednesday night special at GC looks like.

Yea, not really seeing an issue with R2R's gumbo. Strange comment.

I don't know how it is considered overrated either though. Who is rating this prime rib so high?

A little anecdote. I went on a fishing trip recently to a fancy lodge, noted for its food. And I was...disappointed when prime rib showed up on the menu one night. On any multiday trip to a place like that, you're nearly guaranteed to get prime rib one night of the stay. And it's always the least appealing meal of the trip. Maybe just a personal preference, I dunno. But it's just never done it for me.

I think you posted those pics before. Either way, I'd eat that. I like rib roasts. Not something I eat much at all, but when there's a well prepared one offered, I will dive right in. I have a small 3 bone in my freezer right now.

Well, maybe not overrated, but I just think of weddings/receptions every time I have it. I'd never get it in a restaurant.

Do you take pics at GC and pretend like you cooked it like you do when the other guys cook at your camp?
