Any place worth going to from Port allen to plaquemine? I feel like taking a ride to the west side tonight.

Hows Bayou Bistro?

Is Pats in Brusly still open?

Pats is now Athenos - decent Greek place, but not on par with Albasha, Serops, etc. DCs is decent for a burger joint. They make a good hamburger steak with gravy and onions. There's also Cypress Seafood house in plaquemine which is good home cooked seafood and poboys. Also have Marcellos if you want "upscale" Italian creole. The best food on the west side comes from Browns fried chicken and Bergerons on 415.

They opened one in Pville. Only stopped once. They had a gyro burger that was very interesting.

One of those burgers that is worth a try.

Like Tom's Seafood on Facebook. It's worth it for the laughs. Benoit's Meat Block has good sausage and boudin also.

Pats hasn't been open in 15 years. Athenos is in that building. Bistro has really good food. If you want real Mexican go to el paste. Plaquemine has a good Italian place called marcellos

Took my wife to Bayou Bistro. Well worth the trip. Where is Brown's? Love Fried Chicken, but never heard of it, would love to do a search and destroy on some bird.

Benoits is really legit. I swear by their hot pork sausage - especially in jambalaya - and my wife loves their beef jerky. Cracklins - not much love there. They have a kitchen, but only for lunch. Tell Mr. John hello.

Bayou Bistro is probably the best.

I've had about enough of DCs. Everytime I go there I'm disappointed. Everything is a la carte so even just a burger, fries, and a drink is over $10. They're good is pretty good but the portions aren't very big.

El Paste is a good little Mexican grocery/restaurant. I go there over Los Palmas every time.

Athenos is a conundrum...the food is some of the best Greek I've had, but the service is so terrible I don't go there near as much as I would. I've been there say 7 times and probably 4 they got my order completely wrong.

This side of the river is really dying for some growth. It's been the same stuff for awhile now and Bayou Bistro is the only place I ever think about before heading over the bridge on a regular basis.

Hello All,

another viable option to having to drive over the bridge is The Island Grill Restaurant. It is in Plaquemine one mile off of hwy. 1 on 77(Bayou Jacob road).

It is a casual place, even though it is located in a country club. Open to the public every day for lunch (except club is closed on Mondays)and all day including dinner on Thursday & Friday evenings.

Cubans, Chuck Burgers, Po-Boys, as well as some big nice salads (seared tuna mandarin is a personal fave), daily plate specials and in the evenings steak/seafood features.

FYI, I work here - so this is a shameless plug. Hope that's OK

Coupons has good BBQ but I wasn't a huge fan of their brisket tacos. Other than that it's a good ace overall
