Any interest in a "Spice of the Fortnight" thread?

Inspired by the thread on underutilized spices/herbs, the idea would be to feature a different spice each week that would serve as the leading star in recipes recommended by participants. May be a fun way to learn about new spices in a group setting. The more experienced could shed light on the what's, when's, how's and why's of each spice. Almost like a "book club" of sorts for cooking. Herbs would also be included.

Upvote if interested. If we get 10+ participants, let's go for it. We could even come up with an initial inventory of spices and then pick them at random.

I've just acquired my fourth Garam Masala spice blend and was intending on doing a taste test and posting the results here. I was putting it off because there is a fifth blend I was going to pick up. I really would love to know more about spices, so a big thumbs up to this thread.

Is that...? It can't be. kfizzle?

That looks like my next Amazon purchase. I'm thinking it may even deserve a permanent bookstand on my kitchen countertop.

I have a borderline addiction to dill pickles (low cal, high electrolytes for post-heavy cardio), but am repulsed by dill seasoning.

I'm envious of your four Garam Masala options to choose from. I really wish I had something like Red Stick Spice Co in my neck of the woods.

Finally going to force myself to do something with the anise spices. I'm so terrified to put anything resembling licorice in anything I cook. I have trouble even comprehending a use case. That's partly what has inspired this thread.

Sorry to hear you've not been drinking much wine. When you get back on it, pick up a bottle of Pomerol and a Camembert. One of the more incredible pairings I've come across recently.

I like the idea, but only if they are as informative and engaging as Pecker's monthly weird fricking animal threads on the OT. That's a great example to live up to. He balls out making those.

One of my blends is from the spice house (.com) which you have access to.

I'd be down. I've been playing around with ground sumac lately with great results.

Alright. Let's do this. Start recommending some spices so we can make a list. Then we'll put a weekly schedule together so people can procure what they need to all at once/in advance.

I'll add Marjoram, Fennel and White Pepper to the list.

I'm glad I'm following this thread because I've never heard of the first two you mentioned.

I'm looking forward to making a dish with the spices each week and sharing them here, time permitting.

My future votes would be for
Garam Masala (obviously per my previous post)
Shichimi (Japanese seven ingredient blend)
Sauerbraten spice mix (Traditional German dish)
