But seriously, there was nothing there worth seeking out when I was up there a couple years back. Enjoy the views, play some mini golf, and do some hiking.

Was there last thanksgiving. I did some research in some places and asked questions on here.
I just gave up on any expectations on food. Relax and enjoy everything else the area had to offer that might be fun for the family.

If you want to go a little out of the way and blow it out, the Blackberry Farm is no that far away

The Peddler Steakhouse is alright. Anyplace with sardines in the salad bar has to be legit.

Paula Deen's restaurant is also worth a visit get the ooey gooey butter cake. Harpoon Harry's for seafood and a good bar.

Do you want an all day trip in the car?

You will enjoy the frick out of it, but it's an all day drive, but well worth it or just get a cabin or hotel in or around Highlands, NC instead.

Do not do this on Sunday or Monday though. This place is closed.

Go to Franklin, NC and eat lunch at Caffe REL. Prices are a bargain here. you can also visit Lazy Hiker brewery in Franklin.

Then I highly recommend the drive down to Highlands from Franklin. This road has a few really really nice waterfalls along it and spectacular views. You will love it.

Highlands has a number of great restaurants as well.

Blackberry Farm is amazing too as said before. Foothills Milling Co in Maryville is another hidden gem.

If you go to Caffe REL report back, been trying to get someone to go and give a review.

I was hoping there would be a barbecue joint or some hole in the wall that was a gem somewhere around there or along the way once I got into northern Alabama.

I can't stay home because apparently the kids need to see mountains.

I took my kids when they were 9 and 10, they loved it. They really enjoyed just being in the park and playing in the creeks, Dollywood, white water rafting. They also enjoyed the Comedy Barn and the Magic Show at the upside down house with Terry Evanswood, lumberjack show not so much. It's a good vacation spot, but the food isn't great.

Ended up at a place called Hogg's Tavern one night. It's right on the strip in Gatlinburg. They serve BBQ. It's terrible barbecue, but there were fat biker chicks dancing on the bar to Skynard, so we stuck around.

I'll also add that the Thunder Road burger at Litton's in Knoxville is the best burger I've ever had

Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que was not bad. But I can't see us ever going back to that area. LOL
