Founder and owner Joey Redner on Friday confirmed that the beer company’s representatives have reached out to him about buying his Tampa-based business.
Anheuser-Busch has a long history in the Tampa Bay area, having once operated a brewery and the Busch Gardens theme park here. The brewery closed in 1995, and the beer maker sold the park to investors in 2009.

The commercial struck craft beer aficionados as ironic. A week earlier, the company announced it had closed on Seattle’s craft beer maker Elysian Brewing for an undisclosed sum.
It has also gobbled up Chicago’s Goose Island Brewery and Blue Point Brewing Co. in Long Island, New York.

Other potential targets include Florida Beer Co. in Cape Canaveral, Due South Brewing in Boynton Beach and Intuition Ale Works in Jacksonville, according to brewers and business analysts.

I didn't know they owned Goose Island

This is not a good trend. AB obviously sees the threat with craft beer.

You should probably come out from under the rock you live.
It was a HUGE deal 2 years ago when ab inbev bought gi. People were up in arms big time.

Isn't one of the Abita founders working with Cigar City?
And Abita will be a target at some point.

I wasn't drinking craft beer 2 years ago, so I didn't keep up with things like this

If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.
Like I said with GI, I do not care if quality/innovation is left alone while distribution is allowed to increase.

But yet you act like an authority on it, oh the irony.

This is becoming troubling. I won't knock CC for selling, after all starting a business and getting offered a ridiculous amount to sell is part of the dream. However, I would hope the craft brewers would put the company and the beer ahead of the money. But if not, I understand.
As a consumer I hope they do not sell and stay true to their craft roots. It may not be happening now, but in the future, I could easily see these breweries being liquidated if the craft trend starts to decline. Also, this only encourages AB to keep gobbling up more breweries and continuing a monopoly.
I will say that goose island still makes great beer, and I doubt AB will let that slide anytime soon, but the real motivation behind all of this is $. Not great beer. And in he end, if the market ever turns ever so slightly, AB will do whatever it can to keep their $, even if that is at the expense of once great craft breweries.

I dont claim to be all knowing, i enjoy drinking beers with my buddies and talking about them. Thankfully i dont have to kiss arse or beg people to drink with me.

Man talk about narrow minded, I would like to see how you came to this conclusion since I've never begged anyone to drink with me or kissed anyone's arse.
Guess I shouldn't ask people if they want to grab a drink since all mighty Ru considers it "begging."
Never claimed to "all knowing" so not sure where you garnered that perception, I've given my opinion on things before, but again I guess Ru sees that as coming off "all knowing" means a lot of people here are "all knowing" I guess.

Nope no nerve, just coming off as condescending when I've never even had an actual conversation with you other. Just a simple minded way to generalize people
