No dairy either.
Why? If it's a lactose issue, Lactaid milk behaves just like regular milk. The average cup of coffee takes 1/8 cup or less of milk/cream. Just like with minimal sugar, we're talking very small amounts of calories/fat/etc.
If you want some sort of health benefit from coffee, eat a few dark chocolate covered coffee beans and forget drinking the stuff.
Switch to a nice tea instead.

Not important. Don't fight the hypo.

Try a different coffee and/or a different roast. Dark roast coffees lose their sweetness as it replaced by the bitterness.

I have something a relative brought in from Chicago that he was proud of. Kinda light, but I'll give it a go.

All I can say is stick with it for a week and you'll be fine. I started drinking my coffee black to cut down on sugar and I'll admit the first cup was horrendous. After that it got better each time.
It's been about 5 years now and I still drink it black, changing it up every now and then with a splash of milk, but that also depends on the brand of coffee I am drinking.

Stuff in the commercial ones that's not in coconut milk.
I found that the So Delicious Coconut Milk does not have carrageenan...if that's what you are avoiding.

Will have to make my own.
Making your own nut milk is not hard at all. My favorite is pecan... And if you know someone with a tree in their yard - it makes it pretty cheap.
If you're not familiar with the process, soak the nuts (I've tried almond, walnut, pecan and cashew ... Cashew is a little creamier and harder to make silky going through the cheese cloth). Put nuts and desired amount of water in high power blender and boom. Strain through a cheese cloth (I got mine from Cuban liquor in the beer brewing stuff) and store. It's fine plain, but try adding a drop of vanilla for a hint of sweetness, which may help when paired with the coffee, if you want.
I'm not much of a coffee drinker myself, but I'd try changing blends/beans. Find one who's flavor you can appreciate more that's not being hidden by the sugar/cream. You may even become a coffee nerd.
Otherwise, stick it out for a week. Your pallet will get used to the no sugar, and you won't miss it in a month.

I can't read this without snickering. I'm a 5 year old I know.
Good info though!

Optimize your AeroPress technique for this - several things you can do to mellow out your cup. Go with a darker roast bean - lighter roast coffees will retain more bitter compounds; grind less fine, go with a drip grind; do not use inverted method - Press the cup right side up; Make sure your water isn't too hot - stay at 175-180; don't steep more than 20-30 sec.
I most often use Eight O'clock 100% pure Columbian beans, Grind 20 grams with Gaggia MDF set on 11, pour over 180F water to 2.5 mark, steep about 20 sec, press, then add hot water to make about a 10 oz cup (Americano Style). I use about 10 mL of real half and half, no sweetner. Produces a very flavorful, but mellow cup.

May want to try some of the cafeciteaux varieties... They roast here in Baton Rouge and have several different styles. I became friends with the Coast Roast folks back when I was on the coast. Hard to go back to other coffee once you start grinding your beans. Get yourself a French press.... If you prefer drip then there are only 3 I think approved by the coffee specialist of America (or whatever it's called). Bonavita, technovorm or the bunn phase brew. Bonavita is the best for the money. If you don't want to spend the money then by a French press.

Have you tried just lessening the amount of sweetener you use each day until you are putting hardly any in there?

Today was somewhat of a breakthrough. While I cannot say my coffee was yummy(Yes, I said yummy), it was disgusting, which it certainly was for the first week. Even regular office coffee was better. This is telling me time is more important than preparation method. I am finding I prefer coconut milk over almond milk.

If you're in BR, go to Garden District Coffee. get a black iced coffee--it is straight motor oil but it goes down really smooth. Not bitter at all.

It's an acquired taste, imo. Took me a lot of trying to get used to it.
Try using other roasts and brands.. I don't care for Community Dark Roast black, myself. I have to add a single packet of sweetener.
