“If you like our Jockamo, you’re going to love this big, bold Spring I.P.A. It’s a great pale ale that’s just right for this time of the year, when the weather starts to warm up again.”

LINK

What if you think Jockamo is crap?? I'll give it a shot, but I don't have very high expectations.

Maybe I'm alone here on this board, but I like Jockamo. It's certainly not a great IPA, but I don't always have time to venture into a specialty store, and so grabbing a 6 pack for $7.99 at the local Winn-Dixie works.

I'll give the new one a try.

I've had some bad IPAs in my life, and Jockamo is near the top of that list if not in the pole position.

I'll check it out, if only to give a local brew a fair shake. I'm not expecting much.

Was just discussing Abita in the other thread how they don't explore more styles and aren't adventurous...then they make this

Ill give this a shot but if its anything like Jockamo then :bleh:

I struggled to even swallow Jockamo. Definitely couldn't finish the bottle. Definitely not looking forward to this new brew.

I just found Jockamo to be bland, not nasty.

That best describes where I stand on it. I'd rather drink Jockamo than Bud Light.

I'll certainly never confuse it with Small Batch 471 or Bear Republic.

Agreed, it's not objectionable, just not enjoyable. I'll give it a try too, with limited expectations.

I'm curious how Jockamo is constantly in stock. If beer geeks don't enjoy it, who is drinking it?

“Spring I.P.A. amplifies the spice in any meal,” said Blossman. “It pairs well with Mexican or spicy Szechwan Chinese food. It’s great with strongly flavored cheeses too, like sharp cheddar or goat cheese.”

I love when people try to sound knowledgable about food and wine/beer pairings by know the audience they need to appeal to isn't all that sophisticated. Basically I read this quote as "it pairs well with El Chico', Chinese takeout, Kraft sharp cheddar or (if you want to git really fancy) some goat cheese."

Definitely will try it, like I try all of their products. I want to be hopeful about it, but when they compare it to the garbage that is Jockamo that doesn't bode well

Jockamo was the first IPA I ever had and it ruined my perception of IPAs for years. I finally came around and tried another IPA and loved it. IPAs are one of my favorite styles now. I tried Jockamo again and it wasn't as bad as I remembered, but it still is not great.

Abita is a good gateway brewery for people interested in trying craft brews, but they don't have a lot to offer for craft beer enthusiasts.

Louisiana really needs to get some good breweries. I was looking at a brewery map of the U.S. and it was pretty pathetic looking at Louisiana and only seeing 6 breweries. The Austin area has over twice as many breweries as the whole state of LA. Is it just more difficult to start a brewery in LA?
