Mine is...er...different. But the approach is "all freek." Thanks for the inspiration.

Glad you liked it. It was my first stab at a long animated .gif; took awhile just to figure out how to put the process together. Ended up with a pretty decent solution:

- Download .flvs
- Convert .flv to .avi
- Use VirtualDub or ImageGrabber to frame out .avis
- Use Photoshop to crop all frames to same size and make necessary edits
- Make base image in ImageReady and pull in all frames
- Adjust timing

Anything you do differently to expedite the process? Boy, ImageReady doesn't like it when you add a new frame midstream...

Not at all really, just the order is different at the end.

I use Image Ready first to get the frames I want in the order I want....then open PS CS2 to edit each frame/crop/adjust timing/save for web.

I may be doing it wrong cuz I don't know a lot about Image Ready. Hell, I don't know the half about Photoshop. I had to laugh when I saw one of those "You Suck at Photoshop" vidz. In one of them the guy Donny says something to the effect that we (the audience) spent over a thousand dollars on our PS programs, but we are only using about $225 dollars worth! Truth if there ever was truth.

Talk about. The functionality within Photoshop is incredible; the built in ability to generate HTML and scripts from folders/layers is really something. I still find the slicing not terribly intuitive, but everything else...filters, plug-ins, etc. are amazing. It's hands-down the best program I've ever used, and I use a lot of the features and still don't scratch the surface of what's possible there.

I've been using ImageReady a lot more recently with imagemaps, which I'm finding are really handy in a lot of situations. The ability to update in Photoshop and then pass back and forth in ImageReady is great. ImageReady has some nice HTML output tools as well.

I keep sending underwear to Adobe to let them know how much I love them but they never call.

Case in point that I suck at photoshop cuz I don't even know what that is. I assume it deals with website design/building.

Another example that until LAST WEEK, I wouldn't have known that that is all web site design/building lingo, had I not done some reading up on it.

I have barely grasped the infinite potential my filters could provide, whether in tandem with other filters or other tools. Usually it's just a straight up move like "let me put some motion on this pic" or "I need a film grain on this one".

As far as plugins, I have only used Corel Paints plugin that was supposed to work well with PS. It gave me new brushes, but completely disabled ALL of my PS brushes. I uninstalled the plugin, but my PS brushes still don't work. I had to create new brushes in PS and can only use those five.

Imagemaps are great. They allow you to take one massive image (like a map of the US, for example), and rather than having to "cut" out each state (which can only be done linearly) and then assign a separate address to each one (like /al.htm, /la.html, etc.), you can just use HTML to "map" links to various areas of the image.

You can check out the navigation tabs of The Trough for an example - that's a single image (instead of 3 separate tabs) and the links are just mapped.

Maybe I'll start some Photoshop web design tutorials...

BTW, if you need those brush defaults, let me know - I can send them to you.
