Whens the best time to draft?

My league drafted less than a week before preseason started and the guys who drafted jordy and Kelvin are pretty upset.
So I'm just wondering around when do y'all draft and when is probably the best time and are you happy with it? Tia

We try for the weekend of week 3 of the preseason. Even if that's not possible (like this year) as close to that as possible.
We did last Tuesday this year so no major injuries after our draft (if you don't count Julius Thomas being out for me).

After the 3rd game. Insane to draft before that date. Typically the stars won't see much if any action in the 4th game.

I like drafting early. Gives people who do their homework more of an advantage.

We always do the last Sunday before the first regular season game.
