i traded my first 4 picks this year. i dealt my 1/2 late for a big package that put me in the finals with a chance to win. if i had the guaranteed #1 pick, i still would have done it this year. i needed to be able to deal those picks to compete for a title
last year i had the #1 overall pick (anthony davis) and another 1st in a package for love. same concept
the year prior i traded an early 1st and westbrook for durant
i don't value high picks as much as i value players. even when i sell out, i use those picks to package for better keepers. redd acquired a ton of picks and rebuilt his team into a title contender this year. rick did as well.
toula doesn't really trade picks, and he has gone beast mode 2 years in a row
we have different philosophies, and the ability to trade picks is a large part of that divergence. i like how different teams value things differently, and it allows for a lot of activity during the year. i think that's a good thing
