This list just posted. Let the debate begin.
SI Top 300 Fantasy Players for 2014
Includes comments for each player, but right off the bat ranks Forte above Peterson. Not sure I can agree with that.

People have high expectations for the Bears offense and Forte. Both will end up in the top 5 so it's not that huge of a difference but AP is the safer bet.
On a side note, I don't see the Bears getting into the playoffs. They didn't improve their terrible defense enough this offseason.

If it's a PPR I have no problem with Forte ranked above Peterson.
Another thing that stands out to me is 3 rookie WR ranked ahead of Rueben. Smh

Generic rankings aren't worth a shite unless the scoring that they base these rankings on matches your league's scoring.

I thought I recall hearing that its still actually the majority, which surprised the hell out of me

The thing about Forte is, (along with everybody else, I guess) can he stay healthy? One of my bold predictions last year was he was gonna have 2000 combined yards and 14 scores. He's definitely capable of that, but I just got lucky with him last year bc he didn't go down.
I'd be scared of using a top 4 pick on him this year. Again if he stays healthy, he'll be a monster.

At the 4 spot, you are likely to have to decide betwen Forte and calvin. If the possibility of Forte getting hurt concerns you, the same can be said about Calvin. I pick 4 in my main league and go back and forte every day who i will choose. Probably won't make a decision until draft day

We do. The view is that a player should not be rewarded for a carry that results in no yards gained, a pass caught be hind the line of scrimmage, etc. In real life, if a team has three touches for no yards gained, the result is a punt. Don't see why fantasy would be any different.
But, P.S., I agree that not using decimal scoring is crazy!

It's all about balancing the scoring between positions without making one position more valuable than the other. It happens anyway, but PPR curbs some of that.
You don't get points for a carry
You can catch a ball behind the line of scrimmage and turn it into a TD.. Or catch a 1 yd pass for a 1st down or TD.
By your estimation, do you think a 1 yd TD run should be rewarded the same as a 50 yd TD run? Why does a QB only get 4 points for a TD and a WR gets 6 for catching the ball the QB threw? What if a QB fits a ball between 3 defenders in the end zone and all the WR has to do is catch it?

No. But its not the same if there is scoring for yardage, which we do have.

quote:Well, if there are three defenders in the immediate vicinity, then the WR has to do more than just catch it. But this sounds like you think there should be an allowance for degree of difficulty. Pretty sure that is not on any fantasy format I've ever seen.

I'm not saying there's no a case for PPR, I'm just saying that my league doesn't subscribe to it.
