I'd go Spiller. He's more of a threat to take it the distance every time he touches it. He has better hands out of the backfield too.

I probably would in a draft situation, but Richardson having no one else harping carries is attractive.

Big time. Trent will get his carries.

I kinda shied away from Spiller last year because of Fred Jackson. But his explosiveness impressed me. In this case, I think the shared snaps benefits both Buffalo RBS.

Doug already said Spiller is getting 30 touches a game.

Spiller could arguably touch the ball 30 times a game if the offense is operating efficiently. In that same game Fred Jackson could conceivably touch it 20-25 times and Stevie Johnson could make 10-15 catches.

Just posting where it was stated, not that I have a dog in the fight

quote:

C.J. Spiller confirmed on NFL Network that he expects more carries this season.
The Bills are planning to get Spiller more involved on offense, both in the passing game and in short-yardage situations. "We’re going to try to use me as much as possible and not let teams just get one bead on me saying I can just run the ball," Spiller said. "I’ll be utilized in space, in the slot or whatever the case may be to try to help us find those mismatches and take advantage of them."

more

quote:

Bills coach Doug Marrone plans to use C.J. Spiller in all situations this season.
That includes goal-line and short-yardage situations. "My philosophy's always been if someone starts off and they're running well, keep feeding them the ball," Marrone said. Marrone's M.O. is in stark contrast to former coach Chan Gailey's, who routinely took his best player off the field in critical situations because he didn't view Spiller as a power back. The Bills are going to feed Spiller early and often this season, putting him in position to be a top-five fantasy back

Oh, I thought the coach said that, not a blogger.

Carry on.

If he gets 30 touches a game, he won't make it to week 5. That's why I slot him right about Richardson.

I like Spiller, just don't really know what kind of tempo or style the new BUF coach is trying to run. Any clue?

I have no doubt he will be the dominant ball carrier.

But Peterson led the league in attempts last year and was still only running it 22 times a game on average

Fred Jackson is too talented and valuable to not getting his touches. Granted Spiller may receive the majority of snaps (say 70/30), but that still doesn't add up to 30 touches. That's absurd.

You got it legend

Marronne isn't trying to get fired his 1st year. He will need FJax. Spiller won't make 300+ carries IMO.

Agree, but I was drafting on what I believed would come back to me 22 picks later. When it came back to me, Wilson, Bell, and Ball were the best three RBs still on the board and I would have been dissapointed about that. Lamar Miller and DeMarco Murray went right before. I ended up with Manning/Welker and I love it. Welker will be top 10 in PPR this year.

I don't have a problem with you disagreeing. I appreciate different views.

Here is why I love Manning/Welker:

quote:

4. Speaking of Welker, last season, he led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards when lined up in the slot.

5. Last season, no quarterback completed a higher percentage -- 71.7 percent, to be exact -- of his passes to slot receivers than … Peyton Manning.

6. From 2008 to 2010, the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning ran 2,309 plays out of three-receiver sets.

7. That was the most in the NFL during that time frame, 326 more plays than the second-place team.

8. Last season, the Broncos ran 706 plays with three-receiver sets, third-most in the league.

9. This offseason, Welker left the Patriots to join the Broncos.

10. More Peyton: For all the talk of "noodle arm," Manning completed 45.9 percent of throws more than 20 yards downfield. Only Robert Griffin III (with completions on 47.1 percent of such throws) was better.
