What are your keys to winning in a live draft? I've only ever done one before and was not prepared at all (it was my first ever draft period).

Our league is 14 teams, 0.5ppr and a mix of a few "play for fun", some mediocre players and some well-informed players. Second year of the league with some new faces.

I pick 4th, btw.

Here's a tip. Don't take forever to pick

We were trying to think of how to handle guys that take too long to pick. My thought is to have a countdown clock on the TV/projector and anyone who doesn't get their pick in before 0:00, their pick gets voted on by the rest of the group.

I also suggested having a mid-draft break period of 5-10 minutes to let everyone gather their thoughts/notes. I am not the commissioner, though.

Come up with a set time. After the time is up everyone yells at him until they pick

That was the option mentioned today. Next teams can continue to pick, similar to NFL rules.

you have to chug a brew if you don't pick in time. but as for advice, be flexible and let the draft dictate your picks. Don't draft a QB until at least round 7 unless its Rodgers in the fourth. And my rule of thumb is don't draft good players on bad teams

Any rule you come up with is dumb AF. There should be no set time limit and no set rule. Just have a general consensus that if somebody takes too long everybody else is going to heckle the sh** out of them. Time limits only make drafting that much more stressful when it shouldn't be.

after the first and second round i look at what position the other guys have taken. For instance, if 8 people (10-team league) have QB's already you know you can wait a lot later and draft other positions before. Same goes with RB,WR, TE.
Sometimes its good to draft best available as you can use for trade bait. Last year i drafted RB's in the first and second round and CJ Anderson, who ended up a bust, fell to me in the 3rd so i grabbed him.

Good point and I think this will be easier to do in a live draft.
