Getting hype on Jay Ajayi?

I think Jay Ajayi will have a really good year and has potential to be a stronghold at RB2/flex. Hopefully the Dolphins will get over their coaching woes and utilize him better than they did Lamar Miller(who deserves his own thread).

Gase wants a three down back.
Ajayi struggled in OTA with running routes and catching the football.
Kenyan Drake is hand picked by Gase and will be used heavily
Conclusion: Ajayi will be overdrafted

I agree with the route running aspect, but I think it will be almost like a Chris Ivory/Bilal Powell type backfield towards the end of the season. Ivory was the running back who could punch in TD's and had capability of long runs, and Powell was a fantastic route runner. My biggest concern is how the team will be coached.

Pros
Tremendous upgrade in offensive coaching, limited competition for carries/goal line work
Cons
Looked mediocre in limited action last year, knee is a mess, not a great pass catcher and will probably not play all 3 downs
Don't think he has a ton of upside, but he should be solid due to the volume he'll likely get. Thinking a season like Latavius Murray's 2015 isn't out of the question, and he finished as RB11 in standard.

I think with him turning 23 just a few weeks ago, he has the spryness and physical ability to become a better pass catcher, and there's not too many RB's to choose from without some lower extremity ailment haha

I'm not big on him. I'll be taking a late round flyer on Kenyan Drake, who I think will eat heavily into Ajayi's workload by midseason.

They're very different players who are good at different things. I don't see Drake replacing Ajayi on 1st and 2nd down or short yardage with any consistency.

If you are in a league that drafts a bunch of RBs early and are in the upper order of the draft pick and you go Brown, Jones, Beckham early, they could be a good handcuff backfield.
