Looking into TE sleepers for the upcoming season.

While Tate obviously benefits the most from Mega's retirement...Between maturation and expected increase in volume does anyone else think Ebron could be a later round steal this year? If not him who are you eyeballing at TE outside of the Gronks, Olsens, Reeds, etc.

Gronk
Reed

Eifert (sort of in a weird spot... I'll draft if available 5th/6th)

Olsen

Green
Thomas

The rest

you may have eifert a little high, I owned him in many leagues last year and he was great. Even so, it'll be pretty tough to replicate those TD numbers he put up last year.

I think him being injured and everyone knowing about it (hopefully everyone knows) will put him in a nice spot to draft which will offset the regression in TDs.

Oh Barnidge, and Gillmore should be decent as well. As a Ravens fan, I'm super curious if Pitta will stay healthy... 2TE sets all day with Perriman/Wallace streaks + SSSr/Aiken doing their underneath/mid level thing

Ravens TE roster is insane:
Gilmore (safest)
Pitta (injury concern)
Maxx ("redshirt" another year with so many TEs?)
Watson (good receiver; glue guy)
Boyle (PED susp... Dunno if he'll make the roster)
Waller (super tall, athletic, previous WR... Dunno if he'll make the roster)

Jordan Reed at his ADP doesn't make sense to me given his injury history. Guy can't stay on the field. Huge gamble considering you are reaching for a TE to grab him. Dude is going in the 3rd rd

Id much rather wait a few rounds and grab Barnidge, Eifert, Walker (criminally underrated), Kelce etc. A few other guys who I can't name.

Same goes for Reed, who caught 11. He will be an ultimate burn guy this season based on ADP.

reed gets more targets, eifert didn't have a ton of targets but feasted in the redzone. That's harder to duplicate.

Like you said, his injury history is why I won't take him high

Ebron shouldn't be anywhere near your radar, IMO. Guy is awful. Can't catch and he's too stupid to learn the basics of the pro game.

Gronk

Olsen

Reed
Kelce
Fleener
Eifert

Walker
Green
Graham
Gates
Bennett

Ertz
Barnridge
Thomas

Gotta remember Desean Jackson only played in 10 games too. Add in Doctson, too. Reed's per game targets will drop

Eifert has his own injury concerns, so im def not knighting for him. I wont own either. He is open to more targets this season if healthy, though

You have Walker way too low

Yes, Walker coming off 94/1000. Team full of young wideouts with a young QB, Walker will again be Mariota's safety blanket

And Barndige

Top 4 in receptions, yards, and TDs for TEs. Big and athletic. No one else to catch the ball in CLE

There is a strong case he should be the 2nd TE off the board

Reed is your TE2? Does your league offer point bonuses for appearing on the injury report and short term IR?

Thomas is also a nice recommendation. Bortles in year 3 with Thomas healthy could be a nice pickup.

We switched this year to double flex so ideally I want to aim for a TE this year in rounds 8-10 unless someone falls too far. WR/RB will be hit hard early and often.

I generally bargain shop for TEs so I'm not anticipating owning either

Good point. Honestly didn't realize Walker had that good of a season last year. Maybe bump him up, and Eifert down a notch. I'm still not putting Walker ahead of the guys above him though, personally. As far as Barnridge, I'm very hesitant on him. I don't see him matching that year he has last year this season.

The guy outscored Gronk on a per game basis.

He's their best offensive player I don't see it

generally I try not to put too much stock into the injury prone narrative....unless its concussions. Reed definitely has a history there and its something you have to consider if you're going to take him high.

Per game is a convienent crutch to prop up a guy like Reed.

Him being their best offensive player doesn't mean Djax garçon Doctson and crowder aren't absorbing targets

And this isn't even factoring in cousins regression

Garçon and Crowder are mediocre and should not take away from Reed's targets in a significant manner. Jackson can be effective with low volume.

And why is Cousins regressing? TD % not crazy high, solid YPA, best comp % in the damn league last year

Well my main worry is ADP in regards to injury history. But if we are looking at the other stuff

Garçon and Crowder accounted for 35% of Cousins targets last season. RBs accounted for another 29%. Djax was near 10% in only 10 games. Now add in Doctson, some passes to 5th WRs and other TE. There are mouths to feed there, and guys like Garçon and Crowder fit the scheme whether you think they are mediocre

Bc it was a tale of two season for Cousins. First half of the season he was bad, 2nd half he was out of this world (what people are expecting). Likely that he falls somewhere in between. Wouldn't be the first guy to ride a hot streak only to come back to earth

He went 10/9 first half, 6 yards per attempt, 66% comp to 19/2, 9.4 per attempt, 74% comp

Just depends what guy you wanna bet on feeding your 2nd or 3rd rd, injury prone TE
