What round do you draft a defense? What defense(s) do you like and why?

What's the scoring system for Defenses in your league?

Personally, even with a somewhat favorable scoring system, I wait a pretty long time to draft D.

Hell, I know people that just play the matchups every week and drop and add Ds whenever they are going up against an inept O.

I've done that before...I just hate having to do that little bit of research. I generally don't take a defense until at least the 10th round. If I'm looking and I don't see a player that I feel is a good value(say I'm in round 8 and no one availbe is good enough, and I think I can still get them next round) I may reach and try to take the Pit or someone of that caliber.

Take the number of rounds in your draft, and divide that number by 1. That's what round you should take your defense in.

Depends on how many rounds and teams you have..I had Pitt last year and it yielded me better points than everything but QB and RB

In pretty much every league I don't draft a defense or kicker. I load up on 2 extra skill players in hopes that someone infront of them goes down to where they become a starting RB/WR. Right before the first Sunday's games, I'll drop the two worst and add a D/Kicker and then play matchups the rest of the season

I have a similar strategy, except I add 1 to that number and then take a kicker the round after that

What do you guys do in IDP leagues? How often do you start taking them? They're usually my last picks, depending on how many spots we play

So many people downgrade DEFF and Kickers...I tend to go against the grain and have won 2 out of 4 years doing so

And you think it was because of your kicker and defense?

fantasy fb is you have to hit average numbers from all positions to win ...I also think you have to have to good QBs for two good reasons ..First to help your team,second for trade bait if your # 1 is solid and have a need to fill ie hurt player

Switched to an auction draft last year and the first defender I got was DeMarcus Ware with the #108th pick for $19. I'm not sure if I was the first one to go out and get one. The year before that when it was snake he was the first defender taken, 5th round. The year before that, Patrick Willis was the first one taken, 6th round.

Or you can just pick up defenses on a week to week basis based off of matchups.

I've won several leagues in my time, and I hardly ever take a kicker or defense until i absolutely have to.

Holy shite, what kind of points do IDPs get in your league?

These are the settings for defense:
Sack= 4 points
Interception= 7 points
Forced Fumble= 3 points
Fumble recovery= 2 points
Defensive Touchdown= 6 points
Safety= 2 points
Passes defended= 1 point
Blocked Kick= 10 points (only counts for FG's for some reason).

Obviously the dream scenario is a pick six on defense. Had Darren Sharper in 2009

The tackle point tally is pretty low(not sure about other leagues).

Solo tackle= 0.5 points
Tackle Assist= .25 points

No earlier than the 11th. 4 running backs, 4 wide receivers, a QB, and a TE. Usually the 12th and 13th are my rounds for kicker/defense.
