Because Lou has somewhat of a brain...Buxton and Wacha are better prospects right now and will be up next season..
Also if you live by the ranks you die by the ranks..why did Wacha get starts and Martinez come out of the pen?? Will the kid even keep Martinez?

It should be mentioned that the picks in that kinsler trade were a 1 & 8 for a 15 & 20. The difference in picks between the two trades is a lot bigger than the difference between kinsler and phillips IMO.
That 1st rounder in an 8 keeper league carries significant value. Hell, I drafted Phillips in the 1st round this year.

Buxton most definitely is the best prospect and maybe will see a September call up next year. Let's see how he adjust to Double A first. Between Wacha and Martinez, that's debatable. Now that Shelby is up, many consider Martinez their best pitching prospect and he also be will up this season... and next along with Wacha.

I didn't know that... then we could throw my comparison out the window. That changes it a good bit.

And FWIW, I don't even have a problem with the value in trades. Plenty of trades have been lopsided but if MSU feels it betters his team, I'm not the guy to tell him he's wrong.
What I do take issue with is Martinez was dropped on May 31st. He was sitting on FA for well over 3 weeks. I have a problem with someone paying so little attention that he wouldn't have noticed. Tanking like that throws off the competitive balance of the league. My team sucks and wasn't good last year but I still was trying to knock people off. At the moment, I have an open spot in my lineup because I have players I don't want to drop and I am also still trying to make moves.

Anyways, I'm not a fan of D'Arnaud so if Martinez continues to dominate the PCL(which says a lot), I may be inclined to keep him as my 10th. Plus, I'm not big on keeping catchers... especially unproven rookie catchers. But whatever floats your boat.
