I heard someone at my draft this weekend that took Floyd say "Floyd is the man there and will be top 10, Fitz is done." I called him an idiot.

What's not to like about a 3rd year WR who is 6'2" 200 that just came off a year with 65-1041-5?

Targeted 7x per game on average last year.

I love him this year, especially where he is going in the 5th, early 6th.

He gained more yards while getting less targets than Fitz last year. Fitz is aging and Floyd is 24 years old coming off a 1,000 yard season.

So is he going to jump Fitz this year?

Fitz is 30 years old He didnt lose anything, he's in better shape than most of the WRs in the league. Carson Palmer just has a noodle arm so it's harder for him to catch balls downfield like he did with Warner. He still caught 82 passes and 10 TDs.

Andre Johnson is 33 (1500 yards at 32)
VJax is 31
Brandon Marshall is 30
Jordy is 29
Calvin is 28

Gimme a break on the age thing.

I think people see the 4 digit yardage number coming from a young guy and get excited. If you're not catching the passes in a PPR league to go along with it, you are looking at a Torrey Smith ceiling
(65/1128/4). You are happy if he puts that up. Fitz will catch more volume and get 1st look in the RZ.

shite, Brian Hartline has back to back 75/1000 yard seasons. Get him 7 rounds later

Young, athletic, productive, and hasn't reached his ceiling yet. What's not to like? At 5th/6th round value, it's a solid pick that could yield you legit WR2 numbers. You've got to look at potential and not just focus on what he did last season... which was pretty good considering it was only his second year in the league. He only had 65/1000/5, but there's plenty potential for more.

Breaking down just sheer numbers, why would anyone take Patterson in the 5th round? He was only 45/460/4 last year. Why not just take Brian Hartline 7 rounds later?

Potential. Growth. Ceiling.

He has the talent and opportunity and playing opposite to Fitz helps a lot. Only problem is can Palmer sustain 2 WR's in top 20. If Palmer plays like he did in the second half of last season it's possible for Floyd to have a stat line of 1200/7.
Fitz will still be a beast.

Patterson is going to lead his team in targets, by a lot.

This isn't about Floyd's talent.

Who is going to have the majority of targets in Min? Its like the Decker argument, sure the QB isnt good, but who else is he going to throw to?

I didn't say anything negative about Fitz. I love Fitz, Floyd is just a damn good athlete and one helluva WR. Slow down dude.
