What should we expect from him in the 2nd half? I'm hearing he'll stay in the minors even when healthy until he's ready. I'm thinking he'll be back sometime late July. Thoughts?

Guys blows up 1 half season in the PCL & he's the next Mike Schmidt? I don't get the hype. Look at the rest of his #s... just screams "meh"

To answer your question I certainly would rely on him in deepest of mixed leagues.

Lot of overhyped under performing 3Bs out there: middlebrooks, moustakas and lawrie....other than machado not a lot of young guys making a name.

I would have drafted Machado but I drafted Davis and already had Jones on my team so I didn't want to overload the roster. Probably not a bad idea now

He had a .950 ops his rookie year and would've probably been a 20/20 guy last year if not for injuries.

It's not like he hasn't been successful in the MLB

STFU dude. You're supposed to write off young players who have struggled, especially those not able to ever get in a groove because of injuries.

Barry, check your email. I need to move those guys before they get injured again.

Headley too. A lot of people drafted that guy super high and he hasn't done shite this year.

You conveniently left out the fact that he had 150 PA his rookie year

His problems are between the ears. Till he irons those out, he will be unimpressive going forward. Pass

Hosmer

quote:

Struggled in the eyes of people who expected him to be Pujols at age 22. Hosmer is still young as hell and was rushed up to play on a shitty team. Last year or this year should've been his rookie year.

For every Pujols or Prince (burst on the scene young) there are Votto, Butler, Chris Davis, etc who take longer to break out

Anyways, I wouldn't touch young, unproven guys in draft leagues anyway. Keeper leagues are different and you gotta stick out guys like Hosmer and Mous if you want to reap the benefits down the road

Traded Arenado + Hart for Hosmer in April

Like Arenado but still don't think he touches Hosmer's upside

Votto turned 25 in his first actual year in the majors.

Lawrie doesn't turn 24 for another 6 months. Hosmer was 22 throughout his first full year. Precisely why you don't give up on certain players because they hit rough patches before Votto even had a chance to fail.

That is why I don't like to hold on kids who are yet to be really productive. I would never want Hosmer as a keeper and blow a spot on him for a couple years. Of course, he could be a monster by 26, but I would rather wait and buy then. Hosmer is a guy if you are playing for the future. Contenders should not own him.
