12 team Standard non PPR

My Lineup:

Brees
V Jax
T Austin
Spiller
McFadden
Witten
Mendenhall
Den K
CIN Def

His:

Luck
B Marshall
Torrey Smith
AP
Chris Ivory
Graham
Daryl Rich
K
no def yet

We have been in discussions in two scenarios:

1) Luck, Torrey Smith and Jimmy G for Brees, CIN Def and Witten

2)Luck and Marshall for Brees and CIN DEF

Either scenario means I lose Brees and CIN Def (don't care about the DEF), but one gives me Jimmy G and I plug my hole at WR2 while the other gives me Brandon Marshall for my WR2 while losing Brees for Luck and keeping Witten.

I'm not sure it's a good idea at all much less which one to go with.

Thoughts? TIA

UPDATE Luck and Marshall scenario taken off the board.

So that leaves me with:

Brees, Lance Moore, Witten, CIN Def for Luck, Torrey Smith, Jimmy Graham as my option and I'm thinking I could get him to switch Daryl Richardson for Rashard Mendenhall in the deal as well. I'm not high on Mendy for my RB3 and I think D Rich will have a great year now that he beat out the others for the starting job.

Thoughts?

You would win both of those trades imo.

I would take the first deal if it was me though.

I'dtake Marshall. You're weak at wr and not particularly strong at rb. Marshall and Jacksonmake you strong at wr

If you don't mind losing Brees, then they don't look like bad options. You can improve at TE and WR2, or get a top tier WR.

Personally, if I were taking one of them, I'd go with Marshall. You've already got a top 5 TE, and WR is your weakest spot.

Losing Brees is going to hurt but I think my team gets stronger overall with either scenario. I need to be good at one of the core positions RB isn't gonna happen unless McFadden has an amazing year, so if I can land Marshall and start him with Vincent Jackson I think I should do it.

Scenario 1 I upgrade at WR2 (not by much) and TE (by a decent margin)

Scenario 2 I upgrade at WR significantly and keep my top 5 TE

I lose about 5 points per game average going with Luck over Brees but Marshall should make up for that and make my team more consistent.

So it looks like the consensus here is that A: I should Deal Brees and B: it should be for Luck and Marshall?

based on last years point totals divided by 16 games, its a wash point wise.

Lose 4.5 on QB, Gain 4.7 on WR

Neither imo. If this question were posed after most of my drafts are done this week/weekend I'd have a more detailed answer.

You're not getting a slam dunk back for him in either scenario.

For those claiming homerism, JG80 is #1 at his position rank wise by a mile, and I really don't like the first trade. I'd understand the second at least.

I'm starting to get nervous about pulling the trigger.

If Tavon Austin or Denarious Moore have the years I think they might have, they will be legit WR2s to go with V Jax.

And Witten will be solid every week for 7-8 points

Witten is very solid.. How can you pass up a target machine in Marshall for mediocre at best D. Moore, or a definite question mark in Austin?

Vincent Jackson is another on the MIA list when you need him.

I'd make the trade for Graham, he has the biggest differential in points between what he'll average and what your opponents TE will average.

I texted the other guy last night to see what he wanted to do but he did not answer. I have a feeling he is gonna back out.

I had convinced myself that Luck - Marshall was better than Luck, T Smith and Graham for Brees, Witten and CIN
