He relied on polls that were purposely slanted.
This was a massive, coordinated effort to rig an election in many ways. Trump was right all along.

I didn't understand his methodology to begin with. When looking at his forecasts, it seemed the A rated polls were more in Trump's favor. That only changed when the B and C rated polls were taken into account. I pointed this out to a Dem friend of mine, and he agreed. He said he still wasn't worried though because of all the reported polls. I can't wait to talk to him today.

His polls actually gave a hell of a lot more credit to Trump than just about any others. He had Trump ahead at times during the campaign. All the polls were pretty much wrong.

I know he is a big lib but I don't understand the hate for Silver. You developed a model based on polling inputs to predict probabilities. His model is only as good as those inputs which are out of his control and how you and me respond on a phone.
His prediction gave trump nearly a 30% chance as of Monday night and gave him good chances in the rust belt states he won. He was fighting with the left through yesterday.

He the thing about Nate. All he does is aggregate the polls with some "tweaks" to the modeling, and his "secret sauce" turned about to be nothing special. That's it. Garbage in, garbage out.
So, he was using the same bullshite polls everyone else was, so it's not surprising. At least he got a little closer than most gave Trump credit for.

Didn't he give Trump a much higher chance than the other forecasting sites? I seem to remember that he was called out and ridiculed for predicting that Trump had a real chance.

Nate has been saying Hillary was weak in the rust belt for months. He's not a pollster, he just aggregates them.
