Do you think that Trump was the only one out of the 17 that had a chance to win?

Can't win the primary, can't win the election.

Yes, any of the others would have folded like a cheap tent and apologized at the first sign of controversy.

I do.

As much as I like Rand, hes not electable in a national election. Rand is the FIGJAM of politics. Rand is the smartest guy in the room, and he knows it. Rand's gotta get past that.

Everyone else would've been bulldozed by the Clinton/MSM machine because no one else had the balls to stand up to it.

Jindal would been our greatest President yet. halfway through his first term they would have sanded all 4 faces off of Rushmore and replaced all 4 with him.

No. Despite a smaller electorate going against a vastly superior candidate, Romney (and maybe even McCain) were able to obtain more votes as the candidate.

This was more of a reflection of how poor of a candidate Hillary was than anything else.

No. I still maintain Rand by 10 points.
But who knows or cares?

Yes, none of the others would have pulled the 'working class' voters away from the dems in the north like The Don did.

I'm glad I read this thread before I posted the exact same sentence.

I think it was a perfect storm. Most of the speculation as to who might have done similar or better seems little more than wishful thinking.

This. The media is relentless for the left. Trump doing what he did allowed him to get past all of the racist, xenophobic, etc. comments. Even the Nazi and Hitler stuff didn't stick.

I have to say it, and I don't even like Trump all that much, but anyone slinging that stuff gets 0 respect from me. I'm tired of identity politics. Just tired of it.

However, I do think this round Mitt MIGHT have had a chance. Not that I would prefer his victory, but I think he could have won. He would have had to be smarter than Trump, which is tough because Trump's campaign was masterful, but he stacked up better.

Yes, the other 16 would have folded like a cheap umbrella when the media, Hollywood and dem machine started piling on the race/sexist/homophobe/islamaphobe cards.

Yes.

I actually started to think he had a chance the first time he talked about running, then didn't run. He addressed the Clarke County Nevada Republican Women. He dropped a f bomb about China.

I was firmly convinced after Iowa's Lincoln Dinner, the first one about May of 2014, and certainly after the 2015 dinner.

But he will be held to a standard of keeping at least some of his campaign promises by myself at least. And if he should fall short, I will be as critical of him as I have been about others. Although I'm more critical of the SCOTUS and Congress than the POTUS usually.

He deserves every chance to succeed, and he deserves respectful criticism when warranted.

Yeah it makes me sad. I hope Trump actually listens to what he has to say in the senate because Rand has some good ideas
