need advice from bowhunters

Have not bow hunted in several years. Last time the most common broadheads were fixed Muzzys even the big Bear "spearpoints". Now there are all the mechanical blades like Rage etc.

Recommendations?

I think fixed blades are always the best option. In a pinch mechanicals are good because they shoot close to your field tips but I like sighting in fixed blade muzzys when I have time.

The three guys I know that bow hunt a lot, including myself, went 7 for 7 with Rage broadheads this season.

not including countless coyotes, bobcats, raccoon and possums.

I feel that it's all about shot placement. They will all kill when put in the right place.

Now with that being said, it's up to you to decide what broadhead will hit where you aim. A fixed blade on a properly tuned bow will be the most consistent but takes time and effort to get right. A mechanical will fly like your field tips with little effort, but will mask any issues with the way that your bow is tuned. This could affect your arrow flight causing slight accuracy issues and penetration issues.....

Oh and for the rest of the thread.....

All will kill. Muzzy a give you a little more leeway if you hit the shoulder, but you have to make sure not only that your bow is tuned, but also that your arrows are spun to make sure they fly straight. As of right now though, nothing will give a better blood trail that a properly placed rage

Talked to bow guru tim knight. He just invented some hybrids called bi-polar. And never forget Force = mass x accelation. Go heavy.

Over the last 10 years or so I have probably killed 15-20 with my bow. I started with G5 Montecs, then switched to Muzzys, and finally Rage 2 blade.

Rage are the best i have shot so far and i have not lost a deer with them.

If I was going to shoot a mechanical head I'd go with either the G5 T3 or Ulmer Edge just because they are a little tougher than Rage heads.

eta if you are shooting an older bow with a lower IBO rating if stay away from a 2" cut mechanical. They require a moderate amount of kinetic energy/momentum for good penetration.
