But Stud is fine for them, huh? You seem to be going a little too above and beyond in your defense of Stud and the OL performance.

I'm only defending against the insane hyperbole on this board. The offensive line did not perform poorly this year and will have multiple players drafted from it.

If there was a guy who was an upgrade from Stud that is attainable then I'm all for it. But guys like Kevin Mawae aren't that. LSU will never hire a position coach with no coaching experience, it just won't happen.

And recruiting is more than just walking into a room and saying "I was an 8 time pro bowler, come play for me." The vast majority of high school football players have never heard of Kevin Mawae.

I dont know...might create some ego issues having the only undefeated coach in LSU coaching o line.

In all honesty Id like to see wilkerson back. Young guy loves LSU and did what they asked him to do taking a job at a lesser school to prove himself.

He has to get out of the shithole that is Grambling so he will actually have a chance to prove himself. Grambling has done nothing to help his career.

In this day and age,a guy who has a physical presence of an offensive lineman and superb NFL cred goes a long way.

If you're talking about NFL coaching cred you might have a point, but high school kids don't care about being coached by former NFL players.

Who are some good college coaches that fit your criteria of the physical presence of an offensive lineman and NFL cred?

No idea if Mawae would make a good OL coach. My guess is he would if his heart was in it (and I don't think he would take the job if it wasn't). He played every OL position at LSU not just C.

But as for recruits recognizing him, I don't envision the recruiting process being comprised of single visit. If recruits were unaware on his first visit, I don't think it would be too long before they realize he's not only had a good NFL career but is one of the all-time great NFL OL.

Just a question, are there any other former NFL OL of his stature in coaching?

I would say Kevin Mawae first and then Ben Wilkerson!

Jack Miller, Sweet Baby Ray, or KC Masterpiece, anything to finish the job Stud started.

Yes they did. They got pushed around by Ole Miss' 2nd and 3rd string DL, and they completely fell apart in the 2nd half last Saturday night. That image of Mett dragging himself off the field was sickening to watch.

Donta Scarnechia (expensive, but a game changer, and prob the best in the business)

Pete Carmicheal or Matt Moore may be more realistic.

An opposing defense can walk up to our OL and literally say, "hey guys we are blitzing right now", and they would still miss an assignment and get their arse blown off the ball.

That last series was more embarrassing than actually losing.

Stud's not going anywhere. And to be honest Offensive line hasn't been a problem this year as long as the offense isn't trying to dig the team out of a hole.

I disagree.

Losing the biggest O-Line recruit in the nation to an out of state #1 enemy of your home team should be just about enough to do you in!

Stud has the physical presence of a binge eater or an Italian restaurant owner. What does that mean?

Worm, you're pushing back too hard.

Two critical things: 1. He was NFLPA president and has many many NFL contacts he can pimp. 2. He excelled at OC which indicates a greater understanding of line assignments.

Look, I don't think Tracey will be cool with that amount of time away from the family, but make no mistake, if big Ben had that much influence, Mawae will be quantum leaps more.

Kevin is a true pro.....in everything he pursues.
