Mawae

He was like a coach in his latter years in the NFL. He really helped bring the younger guys along.

We need some toughness!

re: Who would be your pick for our new O-Line coach?

I remember hearing he had been hanging around doing some work for LSU. I agree i usually like us to hire guys that have some experience and are proven but i would make an exception for Mawae. Either way stud has to be replaced, it was a terrible idea to demote him back to oline instead of just out right replacing him. I don't like the idea of promoting someone then demoting them and expecting to get great production from them. We saw it saturday when his unit completely quit and ended up getting our qb murdered by alabama. It is one thing to have one guy that you coach quit but an entire unit doing it is a problem

Something is going on with Stud no doubt. Brick takes over his recruiting area and Stud's house is on the market, both in the same weekend.

re: Who would be your pick for our new O-Line coach?

I thought it was a bit awkward with the way Les brought in Cam and demoted Stud, but I don't think that has much bearing on the OL's performance. they've generally held up well in pass pro. we've converted some 3rd and forevers (and a lot of 3rd downs in general). you don't do that without having some pass blocking acumen.

the issue (at least in pass blocking), as someone noted earlier, is when teams know we're not running and they can pin their ears back. those last 4 plays vs. Bama were just a comedy of errors. not just the OL either, Dickson blew a block on 1 play that just cause a chain reaction of bad stuff (La'el leaves his man to get Dickson's, Vadal doesn't pick up La'el's man, Dickson is just standing there defeated).

weakest part of our offense is? QB?, RB, WR? Line?

Well all 4 positions have NFL players. I guess I'll say the o-line because the other 3 positions are performing at a rate that hasn't been seen at LSU. But do you not think the O-line has some part in the success of the other 3 position groups?

which brings us to what exactly does steve ensminger provide? our tightends are dead weight on this team

Yes but I think in crunch time they haven't performed well. UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss games they were a liability when they knew we were passing.

nothing was worse than those last 4 plays against Bama. nothing. at least we got a 1st down against UGA on that last drive, and Mett got off a few passes.

More reason to shite can Studwara and get a coach who is in shape to represent.

The real assistance coaches that need to go are Ensminger who basically does nothing. The TE position has been just a wash for us, and Raymond. He has just flat out failed as the DB coach.

UGA they gave up a sack on the last drive, right before that they lead the team down the field to take the lead.

Bama they flat out quit.

But Ole Miss?
I think they gave up 1 sack in the second half and helped lead the offense to a game tying drive.

bama was worse because the entire unit quit and that should result in firing on the spot.

uga was bad though because that was true crunch time considering we were driving for a winning score.

we scored two 4th qtr TDs. on the road. the second was to take the lead. Mett damn near threw for 400 yds. I can't rag on those dudes too hard there.

That's how I feel about the game, when you constantly put your offense in bad positions, eventually the defense will make a play.

honestly i was more pissed at loston/chavis than i was about the oline. they let us down on the last drive but what i took away from that was that grantham is a much smarter man than chavis. Chavis goes into a shell while grantham actually put pressure on us and forced some over throws. if uga had went prevent we would have sliced them apart and won that game.

Studs lines have consistently under achieved. There has always been an excuse. Attrition, he had to much on his plate be coordinator and line coach. That is two, but the bottom line is, he doesn't bring them up to the next level. And that is why these young men play college football. To reach the next level. We have been known as DBU, Defensive line U, Linebacker U. and we have running backs and wide receivers at the nest level.

that's a topic for a whole 'nother thread, but there are a lot of UGA fans (and probably their HC) that would rather have Chavis.

but yes, I agree that Chavis needs to do better at bringing pressure in 2 minute situations, and that one in particular was awful.

How many starters were out on that defense?
