re: Ed Reed released by Texans: Should we?

That's unsubstantiated, bad reporting

Ed reed is One of the great all time leaders in the nfl. You'd be hard pressed to find a former teammate to talk bad about him

If, and I say IF, he led a mutiny against harbaugh's practices, it was only because he was speaking for his teammates. That's what leaders do

re: Ed Reed released by Texans: Should we?
rotoworld had a concise summary-

A shell of himself at age 35 with hip and knee issues, Reed had been demoted to third-string safety behind Shiloh Keo and D.J. Swearinger. In the Week 10 loss at Arizona, he only logged 12 snaps while playing exclusively in dime packages. After the game, Reed said Texans were "outplayed" and "outcoached." With the 2-7 Texans now in rebuilding mode, they don't need a proud veteran like Reed griping. They'll eat the $6 million guaranteed they gave the ex-Raven back in March and move on. Reed is a nine-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer, but any team bringing him in should keep expectations in check. He's near the end of the line.

-part of the Should We? thread obligation is naming who you want to cut if picking him up. I like the upside in front of IAQ & Bush more than hope of a spark from a 35yo safety. Remember how Sharper fell off the face of the NFL planet quickly similarly?

Considering the Saints preference to use three safeties, I can see Reed as an asset as the deep centerfielder spot that Bush normally mans. If he has anything left in the tank, the future HoF can surely help.

re: Ed Reed released by Texans: Should we?
Well Harper plays for RR on a good defence.
Ed Reed was beat out by Shiloh Keo.
I will vote yes.

We should if the price is right. We could use a Sharper type presence in the secondary. His experience would also be very helpful for Bush Quoduus, Vacarro and Jenkins.

Thing is you have to cut someone to sign Reed.

This.

It's not a veteran QB, it's an area of need. KV has two concussions in 2wks. This is debt and could be lightening in a bottle.

Oh and he's from here.
