Speaking of, don't end a sentence with a preposition.

I think that was the point.

re: What happened to manwich?

Manwich's job is such that he is being constantly surveilled by the NSA and was met at his front door one day and told to back away from the keyboard. To continue in his line of work, he took the acvice to heart. His wife is adorable and he would never stray. Cute kids too. However, his dog has digestive issues.

well yes there is a rule against it -- it was apparently started by a guy in the 19th century (I believe he's mentioned in one of bill bryson's books). whether you want to follow that rule is up to you.

I think I would have gone with canard here. Much better word for what I think you are trying to say. However, that is just me.

We have gotten off-track though. What is important is that Manwich is alive and well and misses about 5 of you folks.

I doubt it.

Try choosing not to follow this rule when writing an English lit. paper, and see how incorrect the professor finds it. Just saying.

Now here I would have typed "Try not following this rule..."

quote:

and see how incorrect the professor finds it. Just saying.

This is just horrible. Please re-write this and submit it again, you may get some partial credit.

Oh, do not question CW again, as this has resulted in a few posters 'disappearing' forever.

quote:

Just saying.

Just unnecessary...omit and never use again.

But again, we are drifting...It is Manwich about whom we should be concerned. He remains well.

re: What happened to manwich?

A preposition is something you do not end a sentence with.

It is something up with which I will not put.

You are correct. That is much more concise.

I don't know about "horrible," but, yes, it could be better.
How about this:

Try not following this rule when writing an English Lit paper. Your professor will disagree.

quote:

Oh, do not question CW again, as this has resulted in a few posters 'disappearing' forever.

I'm not familiar with CW and his apparent position here on TD, so thanks for the tip. No disrespect intended.
quote:

I agree.
quote:

But again, we are drifting...It is Manwich about whom we should be concerned. He remains well.

I'm glad Manwich, whomever he is, is well. I was concerned about Vols & Shaft, which is why I posted, originally, when I saw him mentioned. In any case, you are correct again regarding the thread drifting off course. Good luck to Manwich.

Btw, your knowledge of the usage of correct grammar is refreshing.

I see what you did there.

Nice.
It is something that I will not tolerate.

It saddens me that you do not know of his work. He has won about 87 Droppies in nearly every category. Strangest thing is, even with all of the awards and adulation, he is still down to earth, generous, a kind and great family man. Many a lesser fellow would have developed the big head, started leading a life of excess or even cursing in public. Not Manwich. He is the greatest poster ever...named after a canned meat food product. He is stronger than Einstein and smarter than Lou Ferrigno...

Maybe I am a lil bit jealous...And I can only hope that Manny took Amtrak to wherever he was going.

re: What happened to manwich?

I think it's pretty obvious by now that manny has hooked up IRL with another posters chick which due to the "Muppet rule" forces him to quit posting.

Now I'm not one to start rumors (surfangel), but I'm pretty sure that's the case here.

Poor B-Mac
