Pop ups for the camp

Have an oppurtunity to get a good deal on a pop up. The new lease has no power or water. Any reasons why I shouldnt go with a pop up? Just making sure Im not missing something.

I say go for it, when they are closed up they are extremely weather tight especially if you plan on just leaving there. A small generator should handle all the lights unless a high wattage heater is necessary

Perfect for deer camp IMHO.

Thanks for the input fine gentlemen. Now to convince the wife how much she will like using it in the summer! Best way to spend money on something you want is to convince them they want it too!

The AC is nice to have! For a shitter, we would use a pop up tent blind (outhouse blind) with a porta potty. That way the women didn't have to go in the woods. And you DO NOT want someone shitting in a pop up 2 foot away from you!

Definitely a good investment. As long as the roof looks good, I would jump on it. Spent many summers in a pop up and they are great for deer camps also.

Look at how much power you will need to have to run the AC.

Before buying, have it set up and check all ac/dc systems. Look for any leaks in the corners and ceiling. If there are leaks, you will see stains. Look under to check if everything is in place. Nothing hanging.

What kind of pop up is it? Be careful with Coleman's with the ABS plastic roof. They are known to crack very badly.

I'll just be the dick and say I can't imagine a scenario where sleeping in a pop-up with no amenities is preferable to sleeping anywhere else.

Better than driving back home, it is good for temporary situation, see how you like the new place and if it is worth the expense of getting utilities, and if so then look at a trailer

Agree to disagree. I don't hate my family that much. In fact I rather like them.

Fair enough, but I would rather sleep in a pop up than to wake up 2 hours early in the morning, hunt, have no shelter or place to nap, hunt the evening (track, clean and process deer) then drive 2 hours back home to repeat again the next day. but as you said we can agree to disagree, again I think it is a great starting point to see if it is worth the expense of making a more comfortable experience for the future

Agree with you on all points. I just don't love deer hunting all that much.

re: Pop ups for the camp

I just purchased a mennonite portable shed for $4800 delivered and set up. 24 x14. 35 year guarantee on the roof and siding. If you ever need to move it out of there you can. Prolly have another $1000 at best to finish it out.(Bathroom, wired and plumbed). I got the utility style and took him windows and doors i already had. Ive already torn down an old 1830's house and will finish it out with that lumber. Hardwood floors and and hand hewn mantles(old floor joists) will give it a hunting camp feel. LINK
This is where I purchased it but there are many other places and I'm sure you can find one that's local to you.
