Using fish oil to fry other things

I've always been told once you fry fish in oil, you can't use that oil again to fry other things b/c of the fishy taste. Any truth to this? Whats the general consensus from the FnDB?

Was planning on frying some backstrap tonight, but only have some peanut and vegetable oil that I fried fish with a few weeks ago with.

I wouldn't do it. We use the fish oil, after being strained and refrigerated for fish and maybe fries.

The only thing I've used fish oil for is taking a small amount and pouring it over dry dog food sort of like a gravy. Dogs said it was excellent.

Not true, filter the oil and it is good for re-use. It is the material of the breading that remains in the oil that taints the flavor. Do you think that restaurants use this method when oil is indeed expensive.

This. I always fry my fries last when doing seafood as that helps clean it up, and use a fine mesh strainer to get all the cornmeal/breading out, rock on with your next fried goodies.
