Married OT'ers. Does your wife stay home with the baby?

I think l'd like her to stay home with our newborn.

I make 55k a year, she makes about 38. We don't have any debt other than our house and daycare would run $700 a month.

I think it would be valuable to have her watch the little one and no stress from both of us rushing to work etc.

The downside, we could only fund fully 1 Roth IRA, not two.

Experiences?

My ex stayed home for 10 years. Loved having her home with the kids when they were young. They are very loving and humble kids because of this. IMO if you can afford it do it.

In planning against it because I love money.

Does she want to stay home? If so, rework your budget and consider partially funding both IRAs for a few years until she goes back to work.

Yikes...that doesn't seem like a lot to support 3 people on. I imagine babies are expensive as hell.

My wife stays home with our kids, it works way better for us. 38k isn't enough to send your infant to daycare

Right? But when you look up the stats 75% of the country makes less than 65-70 a year.

babies are actually really cheap unless you have to pay daycare, especially if you breastfeed

To all: she wants to stay home in the worst way. I have the same feeling, just seeing experiences from y'all.

I'd like my wife to be able to focus on our child and keeping the house up. She'd love to do that as well.

Yea I was referring to formula and diapers. I have bought that shite before for nieces and nephews. Seems like it would add up fast.

Just be careful. A plumber that used to work for me would always bitch about his wife. It seems they never had sex but just when it was time that the kid was old enough to where she could go back to work then all of a sudden she would get really horny and want to bang until she was knocked up again. She just flat out didn't want to go back to work ever apparently.
