re: Louisiana Bar Examination - Judgment Day Came and Left

That sounds awful. Is that based on other states?

Yay more lawyers. That's what Louisiana was needing.

I make good money and am still thinking of quitting practice to do something else.

Unfortunately, what I do doesn't necessarily open up for any body if I leave. Sorry guys.

Conditioning was a wonderful safety net to have (didn't need it). If I failed the bar now, I don't think I have the personal wherewithal to take it all again. What a miserable experience.

I would stop practicing law if it meant a good job anywhere not in MS, LA, or AL.

Well, I'm thinking about going back to school for years again. The fiancee makes enough money for me to do it since she nailed a firm gig, I'm just fearing the decision.

We'd eventually move to Houston when I finished.

Solid. Mine will be four actual years though. Hence the problem.

If I don't lose my current job and they keep paying me. I can actually work this job and go to school for a while before having to quit, which would be ideal.

I could also quit and make peanuts during school if I have too.

Its the restarting a career four years down the line that worries me. Two years wouldn't make me blink.

What are you going to study? It is worrisome, but what's even worse is regret if you don't do it.

You're really bright. I know you will do what you have to. Any kids?

I'm being a bit of a snob about MBA school. If I can't get into a Top 20 or 25 school, then I'm not even going to bother with it.

This is actually very smart, considering the MBA is getting decimated like the JD.

No kids, I'm 28 and she's young and fertile

It would be engineering, thinking petroleum. It sounds like it would be a lot more interesting. I have 25% of the credits already, but with the way they set up the prereqs it forces me to take it over 4 years. My course load would just be "lighter" than the normal engineering student.

Really? It sounds tempting. I could see why you are considering it. Honestly, if I were you, I would do it. It can only benefit you in the long run.

I dream of getting out in four years, and instead of making me partner of a firm immediately upon graduation like that one poster claimed, they just stick me in management at Shell, due to my business B.S., my BSPE and J.D.

This would be me.

I'm laughing at all the people bitching at the multiple choice questions. God help you if you ever have to take the bar in another state and have to take the MBE.

Truth, but I found the MBE really easy. I scored ridiculously high on it.

Right? OF course, that MBE score is reusable other states right?

And don't forget poor Mississippi. Where you still had to take the test by hand in 2011.
