I think it is this. It used to be one grader per exam and he would just pass or fail you. Now each grader giving a point total out of a max allowed for each question. Then he just grades a bunch of different answers for that one question. Then you have to have 650 out of a total of 950 pts when all is said and done

The multiple choice questions are very hard IMO. Poorly worded and you leave them thinking two choices were correct. Even when returning home to look up the actual law I couldn't tell you which was correct on many of them.

Ignoring the compensatory v pass individual tests...the avg you need to pass collectively is about a 73% while before it was 70%.

The downside is you can completely bomb a section and have it frick you over...while in the past bombing a test just meant you had to pass the other ones. Coversely, scoring super high on one test can make up for inadequacies on other tests. All this being said, I'm assuming many people bombed Code III

Could be, though admissions standards are going up...if that has an indicia of intelligence.

Multiple choice counting 25-30% on nearly each test + Code III = 51% passage rate seeming probable.

God damnit. Of course, with my luck, I catch the upswing of this trend when I'll be taking the bar in a couple years.

Multiple choice questions on law exams are just turrible.

I believe there are 4 law schools now.

Tulane
LSU
Southern
La College

They have multiple choice questions now? I hate multiple choice law exam questions.

Yeah, I take umbrage with the multiple choice portion(s).

It ultimately is what it is, but I don't really like being part of the guinea pig class(es).

Yep, the breakdown if I remember correctly was:

Code 1: 30%
Code 2: 30%?
Code 3: 25%
Torts: 20% (four questions, 5 points each)
CCP: 6-8%??? very easy though
BE/NI: 25%?
Con Law: None
Crim Law: None
Fed J: 25%

The multiple choice questions were truly awful. They should have stayed with black letter multiple choice.

You may get lucky. This current trend cannot stand. You may hit it when they give an easy one or bring back conditioning.

I wasn't a fan of the multiple choice questions, either.

I disagree with the entire methodology of testing the law in an objective format.

After seeing the exam, I know it is doable. I'd just rather not have to go through the process again.

I'm not so sure they won't at least give this new MC trend another few years just to better gauge the effects, so I think any switch back won't be in time for me (July 2015).

This current test is meant as a bridge for a full test overhaul in like 2-3 years.

Supposedly they are going towards a huge chuck of the test being a controlled legal memo...where they give you some law and an issue and you write a paper. The other part will be 30 minute tests of the 9 current subjects...mostly multiple choice.
