House Republicans Propose 'American Health Care Reform Act'

quote:

When Republicans, one way or another, place Obamacare on the ash heap of history, it will be incumbent upon them to come up with some kind of alternative to reform the health care system. The Daily Caller reports on one such effort.

House Republicans have introduced legislation called the "American Health Care Reform Act" which attempts a simpler, freer market approach to ease the way Americans get health care. Some of the key provisions of the nearly 200 page bill are:

A tax deduction worth $20,000 for families and $7,500 for individuals to allow them to buy health insurance in any state. Americans could save any extra money they have by picking low cost insurance.

A 10 year, $25 billion fund to aid people who have pre-existing conditions.

Insurance portability, allowing Americans to carry health insurance from job to job.

Tort reform, to cut lawsuit costs for health care.

re: House Republicans Propose 'American Health Care Reform Act'

I think it's just a ruse. It probably has no real chance of passing just like Ryan's plan. And I will bet you good money Obama will say they didn't have any ideas, they are the party of No. I am sick of the BS games they ALL play. The pubs outside of Cruz,Lee and Paul don't really give a crap and they are idiotic playing politics because they are all happy with their slush funds and they don't care about America.

I didn't read the new TORT reform but the dems are in bed with this money so it won't pass. They are all in bed with someones money.

I am curious how this pre-existing fund thing would be organized/

I continued reading to get an answer to your question. I can't believe Yahoo printed this...

quote:

It is as easily predictable as night follows day that the president and his supporters will reject the House Republican approach out of hand. The question remains, how will the American people react to the proposal? One thing is certain, at less than 200 pages, people will know what is in the bill before it is passed.

Sounds just like the tax credits in Obamacare except you don't have to front the money--it goes directly to the insurer.

Too bad the republicans chose to try to block health care reform instead of helping to craft it.

The dems had the numbers without a single republican vote. Yeah...the republicans would have been welcomed to the planning table. The dems could have passed anything they wanted. They gave us this mess. You don't get to blame the republicans for it.

Except not everyone qualifies for those credits.

It's just a way to give more people money for healthcare. I'm also not opposed to health savings accounts.

No they don't. And not everyone can make use of a $20,000 deduction. It's not worth much to a family making less $50,000 a year.

I like some of this bill. On the surface it sounds better and more reasonable than Obamacare. I'll reserve judgement until i know more, but so far I like it, especially the tax deductions and tort reform.
