Meh. It is what it is. If this board is consistent, all of the replies should be along the lines of "they are a private business, they can do as they please."

Dunkin' Donuts >> Starbucks (in terms of bang for your buck)

1) Retarded

2) Gutless (actually read the letter here: LINK )

quote:

...this is a request and not an outright ban. Why? Because we want to give responsible gun owners the chance to respect our request—and also because enforcing a ban would potentially require our partners to confront armed customers, and that is not a role I am comfortable asking Starbucks partners to take on.

3) Only "applies" to "open carry" (NOT CCP holders)

++++++++++++++++++++

Of course, the NOLA.com video shows just how fricking stupid people are. If some crazy person wants to shoot up a Starbucks, I doubt seriously they will honor this "request" (or even a ban). If it does happen, the patrons better hope there's a CCP holder (or an "open carry" that did not honor the "request).

+++++++++++++++

ETA - They're a private business, they can do what they want.

I don't really care about it. I'll still carry concealed and no one will no about it.

But I rarely go to SB because their coffee is fricking gross.

Perfectly free to implement that policy. Their customers can respond how they want.

Its their store. While I don't agree with their view, I have no problem with them doing as they wish with their own property.

SB has the greatest espresso in the world. I go there every day. I go there to avoid people like you.
My Gold Card bill is almost 3K per year.

The barristas aren't going to confiscate any guns. They said it reminded them of Schlutz's gay marriage thing.

IE, 'if you don't agree with gay marriage, don't come to Starbucks.

No one at the counter level listens to the guy. He just wants to pontificate. As if coffee has anything to do with gayness.

If it was common knowledge that everyone in Starbucks was packing, that would be the last place you would get robbed.

They should encourage it.

Starbucks--at least the ones Ive been too--caters more to the crowd that feels less safe if every one around them was carrying a weapon.

Not really "gay" in the sense of a buttfricker

More of the type of person starbucks attracts. The thick rimmed glasses, skinny jean and beanie wearing, mocchalachachino sipping hipster reading the Communist Manifesto on their Macbooks all day pretending to be worth a shitstain to society

Here? No way. It's not like someone would freak out over a 2nd amendment topic. Particularly not something out of a random AP study guide. This place is perfectly sane. No paranoid idiots here.

Private business. And they aren't even banning guns anyways..they are asking that nobody walk in with a visible gun because it makes customers nervous. I can respect that view as rational, considering they said they would still serve you even if you did walk in open carrying.

They are simply trying to respect the rights and wishes of both groups...conceal carry and there is no altercation or misunderstanding among customers.
