The Console
Each Xbox One console comes with the following items: * Xbox One console * Kinect sensor * Wireless controller * HDMI Cable * External power brick * Wired Headset

The Xbox One has the following specifications:

Component Description
Architecture x86-64
CPU Custom AMD Jaguar APU with 8 cores
GPU AMD GPU with a 12 Compute Unit GCN configuration (768 shader cores)
Memory 32MB eSRAM and 8 GB DDR3 (Unified; see below)
Hard Drive 500 GB
Optical Drive Blu Ray/DVD
USB 3 USB 3.0 Super Speed
Display I/O HDMI-in and HDMI-out
Ethernet Gigabit
Wireless Communication 802.11n and Wi-Fi Direct
4K support (Input and output) Video playback and Games (Both native and Upscaling)
Surround Sound 7.1
Kensington Security Lock Allows you to connect a Kensington lock to secure your Xbox One.
Finish Liquid Black

"Xbox One's RAM is accessible as a unified chunk". The RAM can be controlled and divided up between GPU and CPU dynamically. This allows different games and applications to allocate what's needed, rather than trying to predetermine ahead of time how much RAM should be given to each component (GPU, CPU, Audio). This was done because Microsoft doesn't want to make assumptions which could limit developers making games in the future.

The hard drive is not replaceable, but any NTSC external HDD with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0(SuperSpeed or not) will be support for use on the Xbox One to expand your memory.

New Xbox Live Features
Seamless Gold Account for 360 and One
Your Xbox Live account on your 360 will migrate to the Xbox One, and can be used on both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One because your profile will be stored in the cloud. Additionally, all game saves and media content will be stored in the cloud. Furthermore, your account has an unlimited amount of cloud storage!

Xbox Live Servers (aka, the Cloud)
Over 300,000 servers will be running this year for Xbox One to be used for "latency-insensitive computation" in Xbox One games and as dedicated hosts for multiplayer games. Lag is avoided because it will not compute things which are latency sensitive, such as animations in shooters, shots in a game, and reactions to collisions. The servers will be used to compute things that are latency-insensitive, such as lighting, volumetric fog, physics modeling, fluid dynamics, cloth motion, and AI processing. These computations are handled upfront by cloud servers while adding no lag to gameplay.

To ensure a seamless experience, the local Xbox will handle introductory computations before the cloud catches up, which then takes over latency-insenstive computations. If the Internet connection breaks, "the game is going to handle that intelligently." Otherwise, if the Xbox is connected to a network, the cloud will do it's job with these computations.

"A rule of thumb we like to use is that for ever Xbox One available in your living room, we'll have three of those devices in the cloud."

The Xbox One was built from the ground up with the cloud in mind. The Xbox One included four dedicated "Memory Move Engines" on the main processor die, half of which are used for compressing and the other half for decompressing data. The result is that in theory, every Xbox One can have up to 5 teraflops of processing power (4 local Xbox One machines), due to the rule of thumb stated above; this ensures that the Xbox One is relatively future proof if the power of cloud can be fully taken advantage of by developers.

Additionally, some of the 300,000 servers will be used as dedicated servers for multiplayer games, so that consoles won't be used as hosts for multiplayer anymore. This allows for multiplayer matches to be larger than on the previous generation of consoles. For example, Battlefield 4 will feature 64-player matches on the Xbox One.

Instant Playing and Auto Resume
Gamers will be able to begin playing games after they have been partially installed; the game will continue to install in the background as you begin playing the game.

Additionally, gamers can pause a game at any time, and it immediately is saved to the cloud; this enables scenarios such as the following: * Resuming the game on another console exactly where you left off * Watching movies or television, and resuming the game later.

Living Games (Persistent Worlds)
Because of the cloud, the Xbox One platform can support persistent worlds that can be updated in real time. These worlds can continue to change/update while you're offline. Additionally, game worlds have the ability to stay in sync with the real world (sports, racing, fighting, etc.).

Xbox One SmartMatch
SmartMatch gives gamers the ability to find matches for games in the background, which means gamers can do anything until his/her match is ready. In the mean time, players can view "typical wait times" for other Xbox games. Additionally, SmartMatch enables in-depth matching options such as "search by DLC" or the ability to search for attributes such as specific skills, age, or language, depending on the game title.

Reputation
Xbox Live's "survey" style feedback system has been removed and replaced with a more advanced feedback system. In this system, feedback is direct to the player, so events such as even muting or blocking are used as feedback. All feedback is calculated and aggregated by the Reputation service to evaluate a player's social reputation. Just like insurance, going longer without causing trouble can increase Reputation.

There are three tiers of reputation: Good Player (green), Needs Improvement (yellow), and Avoid Me (red). Your social Reputation tier can easily be seen on your Gamercard. This Reputation system enables SmartMatch to match bad players with other bad players if their Reputation is low enough. Microsoft will issue alerts to players as their Reputations change ranks.

Console Features
Game DVR and Twitch TV Integration
The Xbox One constantly records recent gameplay, so players gamers can save any gameplay and share it on Xbox Live or a social network. Additionally, users can use "Upload Studio", which allows players to edit and publish recorded gameplay. Users can also stream gameplay to Twitch TV using the Twitch app and a single voice command.

Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps. Your clips are stored in the cloud. You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection, and when you are looking at gamercards on the system.

TV and Entertainment
The Xbox One includes an HDMI 1.4 input port which can take in signals from other devices such as a cable box, Xbox 360, Apple TV, PS3/4, and more. When a cable box is connected to an Xbox One, users can watch live TV and use Xbox's custom guide overlay (called the OneGuide) to switch channels and find and search for shows. Additionally, users can perform these same operations using voice commands through the Kinect. The OneGuide also features a section for showing "Trending" shows based on what your friends and the Xbox community is watching.
NOTE: The XBox One's HDMI input is known as HDMI Passthrough. You can still use whatever HDMI device is plugged into the Xbox One, even when it is powered off.

Besides featuring Xbox Music and Xbox Video, the Xbox One also supports Skype for cross-game and cross-platform chat as well as Internet Explorer for surfing the web.

Xbox is now the "Official Interactive Content Provider of the NFL", meaning that the Xbox will deliver "an unparallel, integrated fantasy experience on the television". Xbox also has an exclusive partnership with ESPN, allowing for automatic pushed updates on a user's favorite players. Steven Spielberg is producing a live-action Halo show that will be exclusively shown on the Xbox One.

Multi-tasking
Because of the tri-OS architecture, the Xbox One enables instant switching among apps, games, and entertainment. Users can instantaneously change apps using voice commands, so users no longer have to change inputs on their TVs to switch to a different entertainment factor.

Users can now snap two apps next to each other on the green to do two things simultaneously, enabling scenarios such as gaming and skyping at the same time or watching TV and surfing the web on the same screen.

Smart Glass
Microsoft has stated that the Xbox One was designed with SmartGlass in mind, an app which acts as a second screen for the Xbox One. SmartGlass is available on all major mobile platforms (Android, iOS, and Windows Phone) as well as Windows 8 (for tablets, laptops, and desktops), and provides seamless multimedia integration for games and apps.

re: The Supreme XBox One Thread

The Controller

Impulse Triggers – Xbox One’s Wireless Controller sports four vibration motors – a small one behind each trigger that adds precise and directional haptic feedback to the finger tips, and a larger in each grip for large scale rumbles.

Higher Quality Headset Audio – The data transfer rate between the controller and console has been improved (up to 250Mbps), allowing for higher fidelity audio in communication headsets. In-game chat over Xbox Live, according to the team, will be in many cases clearer than talking on a phone. The Xbox One audio chat headset now streams 24 kHz at a 16-bit resolution uncompressed both downstream and upstream compared to the Xbox 360 headset that streamed 16 kHz downstream and 8 kHz upstream at a 14-bit resolution compressed. (Source: IGN)

Thumbsticks – The thumbsticks are built for precision and comfort. They’re smaller and outlined with a knurled texture for better grip. Competitive gamers will be pleased to hear the sticks require 25 percent less force to move, allowing you to adjust your aim in a first-person shooter or execute a half-circle sweep in a fighting game faster and more accurately. The controller also uses advanced electronics that reduce thumbstick deadzone in the center.

D-Pad – The old Xbox 360 D-pad is replaced by a new design that pays homage to classic controllers and is architectured to deliver more precision and tactile feedback for gaming. The D-pad’s cross shape is honed to provide accurate cardinal direction input, sweeping movements and combinations – important factors for sports and fighting games, and other experiences.

Buttons – The A, B, X and Y buttons are lower to the controller with tighter spacing, making the transition between each one smoother. A new, three-step manufacturing process gives these buttons a more premium look, as if the letters on them are suspended in 3-D space. The size and placement of the Xbox button has also changed so the view and menu buttons are more accessible.

Seamless Connectivity – Each controller uses a combination of invisible reflective technology and LEDs to send a patterned infrared signal to your console and Kinect sensor. Not only does this make pairing the devices seamless, but it enables Kinect to associate the controller with whoever is holding it. This introduces innovative experiences, such as player switching, where a split screen display can swap positions on the TV if users change seats on the couch.

Low Power State – If you’re watching a movie or need to step away from the TV, the controller enters a low power state that conserves your battery. The moment you pick it up again, it will be ready for use without having to resynch with the console.

Angled Triggers and Bumpers – The triggers and bumpers are carefully designed for performance and comfort. The specific angling allows for a natural fit for your fingers, and the triggers require a lighter pull, so squeezing it repeatedly is an easier and more precise action.

Internal Battery Cavity – The compartment that houses AA batteries is built into the interior of the controller, providing more room at the bottom for your fingers to grip.

Micro USB Port - Located on the top of the controller a standard Micro-USB cable is capable of operating the controller without batteries. When the controller enters wired mode the internal antennae will be turned off and internal batteries will not be used. If you have a play and charge kit, sold separately, the Micro-USB cable is capable of charging the official rechargeable battery but will not recharge rechargeable AA batteries.

IR Sensor – Located on the top of the controller a IR sensor helps the Xbox One identify controllers and help determine when controllers are passed between players. (Source: Mashable)

Sync Button - Combined with the IR sensor and Kinect if you point your controller at the Kinect and hold down the Sync button you can Sync to the console without having to use the sync button on the console itself.

The Kinect

The new Kinect uses a 1080p wide-angle time-of-flight camera (in comparison to the VGA resolution of the previous version), with improved accuracy over the last generation and the ability to sense input in low light conditions using active IR. The new Kinect can track up to six players concurrently. Users can turn on and off the console from standby mode using voice commands.

The recommended play space for the Kinect 2.0 is 1.4m (4ft. 7in.) for single player, or 1.8m (6ft.) for two player operation, depending on the game, application, sensor placement, and other factors.
