He should have conferenced with Barkley about this before speaking.

re: Obama weighs in again on Trayvon Martin

I listened carefully to his speech with an open mind. I have to admit that I totally missed any good in what he was trying to do. Race relations are not perfect and probably never will be. But this speech only empowers the race baiters. All of them. Regardless of race. Like others have said, saying nothing and letting people calm down would have been better than what he did. I feel like he threw gasoline on a fire and tried to make people think that he was trying to put it out.

We as a nation are better than this! It seems that people are fixated on tearing this nation apart.

It was a statement not from a teleprompter and not for political reasons because he knows the reaction from many. He did it because no one better is able to address this and IMO his statement was just what this country needed to move on. It was historical.

No.

You are making the ridiculous assumption that his message will be interpreted logically under your scenario.

Those that are upset have proven they are devoid of logic.

They will interpret this as a justification of their outrage from on high.

How do you know that Obama has gone too far, for even Obama?

I want Obama and the Left to continue to agitate and implement their agenda. It's the only way for people to Learn the Lesson about what happens when you allow Democrats to consolidate political power.

People, in general, cannot learn by reading and thinking -- they learn best by making their own mistakes and suffering the adverse consequences of their own mistakes.

Obama was and is a mistake. The only way that the US electorate will Learn the Hard Lesson and avoid a future mistake is to suffer some adverse consequences of THIS mistake.

So, I say - keep it up, Obama.

We may NEED a little tearing apart so that we can understand our mistake in electing the likes of Obama. Maybe a little tearing apart will teach us to be more careful in the future.

If the President was TM 35 years ago, he never would have been president.

If you had a open mind you would have realized it was an attempt to show a individual who truly had a open mind just how this case is viewed by some in the African American race who have been racially profiled themselves. I thought he did a excellent job of painting that picture for someone who truly had a open mind.

So many of you guys aren't even attempting to view things outside of your own view point. I felt it was an attempt to get us all to at least VIEW the other side. Its the ONLY way we can evolve when it comes to racial issues is by trying to see what might be so upsetting to the other side.

Probably true. Profiling is the only legitimate beef in all of this, but it's perfectly legal and people do it for a reason.

Can you explain the President's fixation on race, given the absence of evidence that race was a factor in the GZ case?

He is the perfect person to speak on race. Being that he has lived on both sides of the aisle. He understands the view that a black male might have on this case when it comes to being racially profiled. He also grew up with a white mother and white grandparents and has stated several times the view that his grandmother had of black males.

That's the fixation. I'm sure he more than anyone would love to see better race relations.

There isn't a absence of evidence that race was a factor. If Trayvon wasn't black, GZ never follows him.

So should people racially profile or not?

When does profiling end and stupidity begin?

When a black guy who meets the exact profile of the killers I see on tv every night approaches me on a dark, empty street, is it okay to profile?

How about this, if you separate yourself in both action and appearance from the hoodlums shooting up America's cities, I won't profile. But conduct yourself like a "gangsta" and get profiled like a "gangsta."

Got it?

This about what you wrote. Think about why he said it. Do you think he really cares about any of what happened down here?

No he has not. He has ignored one side of it and it has done worked out for him better than he ever anticipated.

He's realized he's a failed President by most Americans' accounts, so no he's just making damn sure he's written up well in African-American history books.

Or at least that's all I can think of ...

African-American history books.

That subject isn't taught in most high schools.

I don't think Obama failed any more than any other president. I'm a African American male who voted for Gary Johnson by the way.

So, essentially, you are saying he is neck and neck with the GOAT Presidents.

I am SHOCKED at this revelation.
