re: Obama weighs in again on Trayvon Martin

quote:

Nailed it. He'd been all prepped to say this (see link below), but no one asked his opinion. Can't have that, plus Obamacare problems and the IRS scandal were heating up. Sooo...he usurped Carney's press briefing, made some inflammatory remarks, and pitted citizen against citizen so he could skate past the hard questions.

This is nothing more than his attempt to deflect attention from the IRS scandal, the healthcare debacle, and that the largest municipal bankruptcy filing happened on his watch as a result of policies identical to his, and after he said a few years ago that he'd saved the place. That's it.

do we actually think that he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened? And if the answer to that question is at least ambiguous, then it seems to me that we might want to examine those kinds of laws

oh, good thing it's not ambiguous in the slightest then

An electorate gets the President they deserve.

Obama is the reflection America sees when it looks in the mirror in 2013:

Shallow, feckless, inept, non-serious, self preserving, self promoting, myopic and infantile.

America=Obama

Also from the speech

"There are very few African-American men in this country who haven't had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me"

We will no longer follow blacks if you promise to stop shoplifting.

"There are probably very few African-American men who haven't had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me -- at least before I was a senator."

We will promise not to lock our doors if blacks promise to stop carjacking.

"There are very few African-Americans who haven't had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off."

Then quit purse snatching. Quit committing crimes.

And another thing. Don't think you're so damn special. White people do this around suspicious white punks and Latin punks too.

He has made some eloquent, accurate, and helpful comments regarding race.
After he stepped on a doo-doo mine with his previous "Trayvon could be my son" comment, and now with facts of the case better known, I expected much better from the President.

Very disappointed.

Obama is race baiting to try to push for more gun regs and repeal of stand your ground; nothing more than that and to keep people from focusing on his scandalous admin. He needs to either address his issues or resign.

Mr. FORWARD going backwards. Why is this clown so ingrained into a local/state issue.

Why don't him and all the other leaders of the "black community" go into Chicago, Detroit, DC, Los Angeles etc etc and try to reduce black on black crime. Preach family values and morality in stead of focusing on a local trial where the justice system has spoken.

Get over it and use the momentum to do something constructive in lieu of race baiting destructive speeches.

Bull shite. Fix the IRS, the economy and the multitude of other national issues that need attention.

It's amazing what this man thinks govt. is supposed to do.
It is a telling list. The last one especially. Somehow it is governments responsibility to keep Black youths out of the court system... rather than the responsibility of Black youths to follow the law and stay out of the courts.

The lack of regard for personal rights and responsibilities is striking.

He suggested race may have played a strong role in the case, saying that if a "white male teen" were involved, "both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different."

You damn right it could have been different, they may not have attacked some innocent guy in the middle of the night or sneaking around a neighborhood in the middle of the night with a hoodie on.

This racist piece of shite we have for POTUS just pisses me off. People like him are the ones that keep the race shite stirred up. Too bad this wasn't him when he was younger.

Once I was followed in a department store by a security guy, and I'm not even black.

Do I qualify for govt. assistance?

I suspect it had as much to do with not having any Civil Rights avenue to pursue. In the absence of that, he is angling for another way to placate a demographic.

Calculated risk designed to manipulate the news cycle.

Sad thing is, he believes every word and probably more than what he actually said.

It is one thing to see some silly imbecile on a talk show spouting stupid shite and extrapolating to the ends of the Earth to create a false narrative re this case, but this is the freaking President of the United States.

How can the "former head of the Harvard Law Review" not recognize the legalities of this case?

He can.

He's just a bleeding a-hole.

re: Obama weighs in again on Trayvon Martin

If you actually listened to what he said you'd have seen he didn't criticize the verdict. I doubt 99% of the posters in this thread listened to his statement.

What he did will lessen the impact of the DOJ's ultimate decision which will be not to pursue this case. He let those upset know that he hears them. He let you know why people are upset although I doubt you'll listen.

It was a statement not from a teleprompter and not for political reasons because he knows the reaction from many. He did it because no one better is able to address this and IMO his statement was just what this country needed to move on. It was historical.

And you can bash and cry and whine all you want but you're wrong and history will show you're wrong.

Honestly, the last thing the DNC needs is to be alienating white people right now.

I hope that Obama continues to agitate on this matter, and, I hope that the Justice Department prosecutes GZ.

Perhaps then, the Hard Lesson will be learned about what happens when you allow Democrats to consolidate political power.

Obama is an exact reflection of who we are and what we are as a nation right now.

So does Hispanic America already get it

I hope that FedGov continues the agitation against and persecution of GZ. Perhaps then, Hispanics will be able to learn the Hard Lesson about what happens when you allow Democrats to consolidate political power.

By and large, Hispanics are Democrats. We need to have something intense to happen in order for this paradigm to shift.
