Incredible Son Surprises Dad With His Long-Lost Mustang

quote:

Rick Lookebill of Indiana knows that story all too well. Twenty four years ago, he was forced to part ways with his first car, a 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1. As the years went by, he was always looking for his old car with the dream of bringing it back — until his son came in for the win.

Lookebill's son managed to locate the car in Florida, convince the owner to sell it back to him and park outside his father's house without raising any suspicion. Then he revved the engine and prepared for the surprise of a lifetime.

Someone cue up the Drive By Truckers with "Outfit"

quote:

You want to grow up to paint houses like me, a trailer in my yard till you're 23
You want to be old after 42 years, keep dropping the hammer and grinding the gears

Well, I used to go out in a Mustang, a 302 Mach One in green.
Me and your Mama made you in the back and I sold it to buy her a ring.

And I learned not to say much of nothing and I figured you already know
but in case you don’t or maybe forgot, I’ll lay it out real nice and slow

Don’t call what your wearing an outfit. Don’t ever say your car is broke.
Don’t worry about losing your accent, a Southern Man tells better jokes.
Have fun but stay clear of the needle. Call home on your sister’s birthday.
Don’t tell them you’re bigger than Jesus, don’t give it away.

Six months in a St. Florian foundry, they call it Industrial Park.
Then hospital maintenance and Tech School just to memorize Frigidaire parts.
But I got to missing your Mama and I got to missing you too.
So I went back to painting for my old man and I guess that’s what I’ll always do

So don’t try to change who you are boy, and don’t try to be who you ain’t.
And don’t let me catch you in Kendale with a bucket of wealthy-man’s paint.

Don’t call what your wearing an outfit. Don’t ever say your car is broke.
Don’t sing with a fake British accent. Don’t act like your family’s a joke.
Have fun, but stay clear of the needle, call home on your sister’s birthday.
Don’t tell them you’re bigger than Jesus, Don’t give it away.

Don’t give it away

I'd be incredibly disappointed to see my first vehicle located in my driveway 20+ years in the future.

re: Incredible Son Surprises Dad With His Long-Lost Mustang

My csb of the day:

My wife grew up in a small Mississippi town. While growing up, her mother was in a relationship with a man whom she became close with. He was known for his pink Studebaker, which he always drove my wife and his mother around in. Unfortunately the man died a few years later.

After I graduated from college, we briefly moved back to BR. While out driving one day, my wife spotted a pink Studebaker in the parking lot of some apartments. She left a note on the car, and a couple days later the owner called. It was the man's brother. They spent some time catching up on the phone and talking about the brother.

Unfortunately, the brother would not sell the car to my wife and thus ends this csb.

No shite. My POS '85 Ford LTD should be in a scrap heap or melted down years ago.

My dad had a beautiful dark blue 66 Mustang Fastback for about 6 years through graduate school. Someone stole it, took out the motor, and set the body on fire.

I vow to this day to buy him another Fastback in the future. Hopefully I will be financially blessed enough to do it.
