I like this kid I'm rooting for him whether he plays for LSU or not.

Hammond has a bunch of talent. I know they also have a good young d-lineman.

ETA: It was the head coach himself who told me about the lineman, haven't seen him in person but the coach was high on him.

Seems to happen every year in Louisiana, the pay sites can't get everyone. The July camp seems to produce 1-2 prospects that not many people have heard of.

I saw this kid play last year. I believe he rushed for 450 yards in one game. His only draw back is that it's obvious he gets no coaching and has very little help around him

Looked good on Defense, I'm glad he'll be at camp. I doubt he's a take at rb, but you never know. July camp will be .

Hammond is never short on talent.. but they notoriously underachieve year in and year out. I used to play against them each year.. if they got down early, they just quit (the mark of a poorly coached team).

I wouldn't go that, but they do have a few decent players. The problem with Hammond is just partially coaching. The main problem is most of the athletes at Hammond although very talented they are also common street thugs. They are more worried about fighting than winning ball games. Its the culture of the ppl in that town. Ponchatoula and Hammond are long time bitter rivals. More times than not Hammond has a overall more physically talented team. But ponchy always wins and most of the times by a large margin because Hammond is undisciplined and has no composure at all.

St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond has a top notch 2016 DT.

Edwin Alexander 6'2" 280 Hammond, LA (St. Thomas Aquinas)

Freshman Highlights

Not much tape but he's dominant on the few plays he has posted.

Hammond always had solid teams in the late 90's and early 2000's. Now, from what I've seen, the talent pool is really low and the head coach is a joke

re: Hammond star Jeremy Smith visits LSU after catching the eye of coaches

The last time my alma mater lost to them was my sophomore year (2004), and we weren't nearly the program we are now.

That 2004 Hammond team may have been the last playoff team they have had too.

Matt Betts was a Jerome Bettis-type, bowling ball of a back, and Troy Giddens (one time LSU player) was nasty at LB (although he was much better that year than his senior year in 2005). They also had a WR that signed with A&M and another receiver that signed with SELU.

A guy that graduated in 2008, Robert Alford, went virtually unnoticed in the recruiting world, signed with SELU and got drafted this year.

They always have talent, but coaching is usually the main thing holding them back.

And another poster addressed that getting the athletes to suit up for football is a big issue as well. I believe that goes hand in hand with coaching. You'd be surprised how far a good motivator goes.
