Which former LSU player has had the single greatest NFL season?

I know it's hard to judge Linemen like Mawae and others. Any of you have a good answer?

Bert Jones was the 1976 NFL MVP

From Wikipedia
quote:

The 1976 regular season was Bert Jones's finest as a professional: he threw for 3,104 yards and a career-high 24 touchdowns, compiling a passer rating of 102.5. He was one of only three quarterbacks to achieve a 100+ passer rating during the entire decade of the 1970s, joining Dallas' Roger Staubach (1971) and Oakland's Ken Stabler (1976).

Not good enough to be the full-time starter at LSU though

I would say Bert Jones.

I'd mention a few others who had great seasons for what position they played:

Kevin Faulk, Jerry Stovall, Carlos Carson, Fred Miller, Steve Van Buren, Eddie Kennison, Jimmy Taylor, Henry Thomas, Dalton Hilliard, Leonard Marshall, Eugene Daniel, Brian Kinchen, Kevin Mawae, Donnie Jones, A.J. Duhe, Billy Truax, Corey Webster, Laron Landry.

In a career lasting 17 years, Tittle passed for 33,070 yards, and 242 touchdowns, and twice received the NFL Most Valuable Player Award.

So far it's Bert Jones

Of those I've seen

Addai maybe. Bowe. Some others but I saw Bert in 1976. He was incredible. No injury he would have been known as a all time great nfl player

I was just going off ones I actually saw play in the league Lester

Obviously the three HOF'ers stand out

Van Buren might be the best LSU player ever in the nfl and Taylor well I mean shite look at the way he is viewed by historians

Ole war skule the movie dietzel said pound for pound jimmy Taylor was the best player with the ball under his arm that he ever saw

I was interested and just went and read some stuff about Leonard Marshall

Doesn't get the credit he deserves for his pro career. I get he played with LT but he had 83.5 sacks playing in a 3-4 defense

His post career stuff is very interesting. I'm curious if he has ever come close to being talked about for the HOF, 2 time all-pro etc
