there's no underlying, cultural-based reason why she didn't call the cops. She just didn't want to get involved. Her friend got shot while she was on the phone with him and simply didn't want to ether involved because it would inconvenience her.

yep

Pathetic. You're 19 years old, in this country that means you're an adult and if you're still mentally a frickin 12 yr old then that's your own fault. If we really wanted to exterminate racism in this case then we'd quit trying to lower the standards for her and make excuses for her stupidity.

The article should be renamed "White Apologist Amerika: You can never be a piece of shite if you are black"

What liberals don't understand is that she is the offspring of the coupling of FDR's and LBJ'S social policies.

She repeats herself about 50 times. Horrible article from the presentation to the analysis.

Less intelligent because of the "language barrier" and more confused because of the lawyers' failure to understand who Rachel is, where she comes from, what kind of life she lives.

While I agree that African-Americans can and do make mistakes, I think we (as a white society) need to set a higher standard for ourselves and occasionally attempt to sympathize and empathize with people such as Rachel.

For Rachel, this has to be overwhelming. Imagine if you were an African-American and your friend was killed. Would you call the police? Maybe, but not likely. White police have a history of abusing minorities (see: Rodney King) and, as a result, provided a chilling effect to the African-American community.

How about the black community set a higher standard so people like Rachel are not so common and ignorance isn't praised?
