The first couple years is really hard. Once you get your life together, have your finances straightened out and have good friends and family you won't even think about that shite. Been since 07 for me for drugs. I still drink, but that was never my problem.

I thought I beat it after 9 years. When I went back out I was a fricking crazy man. I was actually hit by a car leaving Clyde's in Georgetown. I should be dead, but only the good die young. Can't believe that was almost 18 years ago.

First few months, maybe years were the best for me. It's after that thrill of being sober wears off that it gets hard

I quit for 4 years and didn't see any way in hell I would ever drink again. Well, ...

Spent another 8 years drunk.

Yeah, I had some superman complex. Figured if anyone could beat the odds it would be me.. Even after failing the first time. Ego will do that to you.

Which is why I suggested taking something else that doesn't really affect you but keeps your brain thinking you are taking meds!
