I cleaned up for a couple months on my own and fell back in deeper. I'm not saying AA works...but I know I can't do it on my own.

Relapse is a part of the whole problem with alcohol. I went back out after 9 years. Don't be embarrassed to go back for help. I am very fortunate that I got back. It's been over 17 years now. You can do it --- if you want it bad enough. Best wishes.

So I should make a great effort to find a doc to help with an opioid addiction? I hope you're not a sponsor.

No AA. I'm just not comfortable with the scene.

Man, I can't tell anyone how to stay sober. If its not for you then I get it.

I will tell you the thing that saved me was getting a sponsor and working the steps. Quitting was easy for me. I just wasn't happy till I worked the steps. I was walking down the road of a dry drunk. Working the steps really gave me peace of mind.

I'm sober now for two months.

Congrats on two months. Truthfully, most guys who "give up" drinking never make it to two months. AA groups give away less than half the number of 2 month chips as they do 24hr chips.

Absolutely you should and no I am not a sponsor, I have never even been to a meeting. Seriously though if you have an opioid addiction you need to see a doctor that will give you suboxone and you will set.

As I said in a thread last night, we have some type of cosmic connection. I don't know, but I felt it just a few seconds ago -- again.

It's usually a part of recovery for a while. I don't know many people who stayed sober after their first attempt. No shame in relapse, just shame in accepting that it's your fate.

Very true, Roger. My pride almost killed me. I am very lucky to have gotten back.
