Nah. Admittedly, the "dog" argument is about the shittiest one out there.

I would agree. The dog may be the shittier one but both arguments miss something important and that's informed consent.

Just stating the obvious there.

I think violating someone's liberty is wrong.

Me too.

I find it interesting that all of this is viewed in terms of religion doing the "violating of rights"

instead of

a small minority of people living an unusual lifestyle "violating the rights" of a majority to properly practice and respect the concept of marriage - an important Christian ceremony before God - by forcing the perversion of its definition by its government.

This isn't a gay rights issue - its an attack on Christian values/beliefs.

And you know things like forcing churches to marry and threaten tax exempt status.

NOBODY is talking about forcing churches to marry gays. That's a completely fabricated controversy. That slippery slope argument is bullshite; the government can't even force churches to perform interracial marriages -- why do you suddenly believe it's going to have the power to force gay marriages?

And churches shouldn't be tax exempt. If your god is so great, let him help pay the bills.

Jesus tapdancing christ. So if they just called it a civil union but gave them full benefits, would you not have an issue?

Uh marriage is way older than christianity... You can't just keep claiming things and saying they're christian based.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but is someone saying that marriage is a Christian thing? Like someone else said marriage predates Christianity and America and the world has many other religions.

I don't want to live in a country where citizens think the above makes sense. How can you not see the danger in it? You should be afraid of such a concept also.

When the majority of the people choose to live their lives embracing immorality and low values - freedom and liberty are going to be lost.

Our constitution will not work or stand as our society continues to decline in morality and Christian values.

To quote myself...

quote:

Do I believe that's what going to happen here? Hell no

You were saying?

Now....

quote:

Sigh. Putting aside how childish and how douchey this sounds....

Think about how dangerous this is.

Hmmm, I wonder what would happen if churches were taxed. Methinks they would become a bigger player in american politics than they are already.

You take tax exempt status away from non profits like boy scouts and churches, you're basically advocating for an end to separation of church and state and setting up religion to become a big player in govt and us on the road to a theocracy. Change does not work without consequences.

I woud prefer that not happen and I believe the status quo works.

so if people do what they want they'll be less free... that's some great logic

we'll be fine. This will make zero difference to anyone not gay.

What makes you so sure the morality you believe in is the correct one out of the almost limitless options in the world? IF you were born in Iraq instead of here, do you think you'd still be the same religion?

I do. Just look at what the idiots in DC are doing now. Its not a stretch to see them using their unconstitutional powers to go after religion in the near future. As they gain power, they will.

Why did Obama feel the need to point this out yesterday?

Trust me, they are planning to go after religion in the near future.

That would be me. Yes, since the founding of this Christian nation - by Christians, marriage is a Christian thing.

I'm not referring to the debatable statement "marriage pre-dates Christianity".
