Has Ali Khamenei had some sort of pro-peace epiphany?

Let them renounce terrorism and welcome Israel to the Middle East. Exchange ambassadors etc. Normalize relations

Not in my life time

Yeah, its not like the US and Britain toppling their government, ousting their democratically elected leader, and setting up a dictatorship left any hard feelings or anything.
So if they are justified in having hard feelings for events that happened 60 some odd years ago, then why aren't the Israelis justified in having hard feelings for a government that is currently providing support to terrorists who attack Israel? Or do you just have a double standard when it comes to Jews like CarrolltonTiger?

Good point- Iran is clearly a paragon of western democracy, free of state sponsored terrorism, has given up on nuclear weapons and is a shining beacon of peace and tolerance with nothing but love toward Israel and the US in specific and the West in general.

I can't remember the last time I saw this many straw men in one post.

Guessing VB's or Rex's long winded rants about Bush lying to the world to finish Daddies' "war".

Is Iran going to recognize the right of Israel to exist as a state?

Right after Israel recognizes the Palestinians right to exist, which won't be any time soon based on the comments coming out of Israel yesterday.
quote:

A rising star in the Israeli cabinet has declared that the idea of a Palestinian state is dead, in a statement that will dismay the US secretary of state, John Kerry, whose mission to restart peace talks between the two sides is struggling to make headway.

Naftali Bennett, who was appointed Israel's economics and trade minister following a strong showing in January's election, told a conference of settlers in Jerusalem that Israel should urgently annex large tracts of the West Bank currently under its control.

Referring to the idea of a Palestinian state, Bennett said: "Never have so many people invested so much energy in something that is hopeless."

The challenge, he added, was "how do we move forward from here, knowing that a Palestinian state within Israel is not possible ... We have to move from solving the problem to living with the problem." Annexation of "Area C", the 62% of the West Bank under total Israeli control, should proceed "as quickly as possible".

Bennett said: "The most important thing in the land of Israel is to build, build, build. It's important that there will be an Israeli presence everywhere.

"This land has been ours for 3,000 years. There was never a Palestinian state here and we were never occupiers. The house is ours and we are residents here, not the occupiers."

If it ended 60 years ago, you might have a point, but since then we've supported the Shah and do our best to sanction them into the Dark Ages.

Turn it around Let Hezbollah or Hamas recognize Israel and renounce trying to drive the Jews into the sea. Israel will fall over itself to declare a state on the West bank for the Palestinians.

I hate to get into this. But, what is incorrect about that statement? Was there ever a "Palestine"?

I think Israel is fine with a Palestinian state. I do not think they want it on Israeli land.

Now, I'm not arguing the right / wrong of Israel. I am only responding to your message.

Some of you all are faster at throwing the anti-semite card than Obama is at throwing out the race card.

If Israel is a legitimate government they can stand on their own. this is Israels problem not ours.

1) I love Condoleezza

2) I respect Colin

HOWEVER,

3) I've spent my entire life (so far) without giving a sick rat's arse about what either thought of me.

Good for you...you do know where I got my odd spellings of their names from right? It's a little "Inside Baseball-ish" from the Dave Chappelle skit...
