If you can get over that, surely you can get over Muslim angst masquerading as political dissent.

re: Chris Jackson tells his story NBA Legend Mahmoud Abdul Rauf

Thanks for the link. I liked a lot of the background talk. I didn't know a lot of that stuff.

However, he is way off base to think that prejudice sent him out of the NBA. He had some wrong headed notion about the American flag and his religion (I recall several other players who followed Islam telling him this) and then was completely horrible with handling the press after that. Not unexpected, but that just created a media circus around him that teams didn't want to deal with.

He also came off as a little stubborn about the whole thing, which probably infuriated a lot of GM's and coaches.

A lot of really good players miss in the NBA because of stupid reasons or maybe stupid coaches. I remember a player named Dana Barros around the same time who was an All-Star for Philly one year, was signed as a free agent by the Celtics that summer, then got a bunch of DNP's from the coach because the coach didn't like his defense. He was also a 5' 9" shooting point guard. Steve Nash was also sitting on the bench and almost out of the league in his first couple of seasons.

And what country offered these opportunities? The very one whose national anthem he would not honor. Very disappointed in Chris Jackson when he pulled that.

I'm gonna call him Chris Jackson. His mama call him Chris Jackson, I'm gone call him Chris Jackson.

I'd love to see you and everyone else still refer to Muhammad Ali as Cassius Clay to his face. Oh that would be disrespectful? Then why say it behind a keyboard?

If they were Muslims who converted to Christianity you wouldn't be referring to their former names. A man has a right to choose his own religion so get off of your high horses.

Bull shite opinions? Wow I can see that you and the other posters who support this believe in good ole American freedom. You see here is the problem. Yes he earned everything with hard work I don't think anyone is denying this. If he wants to be a Islamic that's his choice and he is free do so atleast for now. But yet he hates on the USA and disrespects the flag. Along with all this hate he has no problem accepting good ole American money. Nah he isn't a hypocrite at all If he truly believed everything he says then he would leave the USA and never come back. I don't give a shite what path he wants to follow but when he bashes and hates on my country that is a problem. The real issue I have is with pussies like you and posters who support your statements. You get on your high horse and want to bash ppl who are critical of whatever the player formerly known as Chris Jackson is calling himself this week. You call them bull shite opinions. Buddies this is a free country for now. I and anyone else can have any opinion I want just as you can. That's the beauty of it all. In American we are free to have any opinion we want. That is of course unless it is different than what the liberal left believes. Then you tell is our opinions are bull shite or racists or whatever is currently used by the liberal left. Personally I think CJ is a piece of crap and a hypocrite but you feel free to bash me all you want as I am sure you will.

I'd certainly call him M.A.R. to his face.
I call a man what he wants to be called.
I just said CJ because it was easier to type.

Anyone else notice patriotism is oddly similar to "extremist" Muslim views?

They just don't get it, Ballscaster.
Or that Rauf did casually what Glen Beck and Ann Coulter do for a living...
Ultimately, Rauf is unAmerican for holding an unpopular opinion.

Nope he unAmerican for hating America and disrespecting the flag. Its odd that if I am patriotic American and respect my country I must be tolerant when they express their views. But when the shoe is on the other foot I am supposed to just shut up and take it. I say frick that and I don't give a shite what you or anyone else has to say about it.

Mahmoud is a happy warrior against liberal Strawmen and idiotic moral relativism that inanely compares catastrophic Islamic societal failure to our Constitutional American society that has guaranteed human liberty for well over 200 years?

Who knew?

Take what? Why do you patriots pretend you're constantly in a fight with people who don't think like you?
